This is the correct syntax for it:

/script SetCVar("nameplateMaxDistance", 41)

Update: I’m mistaken about the hotfix having been applied earlier. The bug is still active and we’ll hotfix it soon.

Cross-realm is not intended.

Hello.

There was a bug in Burning Crusade Classic that made it possible to invite player-characters from other realms. The bug was fixed it several hours ago.

We’re working on a fix.

Have fun out there!

We’ve found the bug with this, and we’re deploying a hotfix soon that will have the effect of reducing Bonus Honor by a factor of 10, back to the amount it’s supposed to be.

We also double-checked other rewards, and we found that the number of Marks being rewarded have been correct.

Thanks for the reports!

No one on the WoW team that I’ve talked to this afternoon can remember a maintenance that took this long. It looks like that’s because we’ve never done anything like this in World of Warcraft, where we’re basically turning one game into two games and we need every player-character in both games to be perfectly playable as they all were just before maintenance started.

Please know this: there’s a good reason for how long it’s taking, and our live operations team are making solid progress toward a resolution.

There are jobs that copy data and jobs that check the integrity of data and there’s an immense amount of data to process before we even begin the steps that we take to check everything manually. It’s not possible for us to lose anything, but it is possible for us to have an issue that requires a step to be repeated. In today’s case, the step we had to start over was a big one. While performing data integrity checks on the Burning Crusade Classic and Classic Era real...

We’ve gotten a lot of feedback about how much damage is necessary to break an enemy trapped in a root-effect, such as Frost Nova. Beta testers reported that it took too much damage to break root effects, and it turns out, they were correct. It took quite a bit of sleuthing to find the issue, but we ultimately found a bug that explains the odd behavior we saw in the Beta, and we should be able to fix it well before the first Arena season.

The Story

To start, one of the reasons this was such a challenge to find is that the behavior is intentionally random. There’s no fixed amount of damage that’s necessary to break roots; there’s a range of damage that might be necessary, which makes it a risk/reward calculation for the players. Reproducing the issue isn’t guaranteed, and testing it can look like normal luck streaks.

When this was first reported, we looked at the scripts on the spell, and verified that they matched the original data, which led us ...

The daily limit is lifted.

The hourly limit of 5 dungeons per hour has been a part of World of Warcraft for over 15 years and will continue to be in effect on both Classic Era and Burning Crusade Classic realms.

Hello!

The daily limit was a setting that we chose with great care last year, as we measured that it would impact an extremely low number of legitimate accounts, while giving us a helpful means to limit the impact of exploitative accounts before we could detect them and close them.

Now, with The Burning Crusade Classic pre-patch upon us, we understand that players are about to play WoW in a different way as they level up their Blood Elves and Draenei and then go through the Dark Portal and level some more. Over the next few weeks, the impact of the daily limit is more difficult to know, so we’re going to remove the daily limit on all Burning Crusade realms, effective with the launch of pre-patch.

As before, we will carefully observe player activity so that we can decide what daily limit, if any, is appropriate to enact after Outland leveling activities have peaked.

Thanks!

Update!

There’s a way more compact way to do this. Example:

/console nameplateMaxDistance 41

Have fun with that!

We’ve continued to test rated Arenas in the Burning Crusade Classic Beta, and we agree with a lot of feedback about the Rating requirements on Arena gear, which caused us to take a closer look at how we’re updating the system.

One change from the original game that we’re including is having your team and personal rating start at 0, rather than 1500, because we want players to work with their team to improve and push their rating higher, rather than give up because playing more is only causing their rating to decrease. However, we also recognize that teams that are starting out or still learning could feel unfairly penalized by a lower rating than they would have been able to achieve in 2007. While the updated MMR system does rapidly increase your rating for your earliest wins, we want to make sure the points you could expect to earn while improving were similar as well.

  • We’re going to increase the Arena points granted to teams and players with less than a 150...

They aren’t testable in the Beta, but the original Burning Crusade Collector’s Edition Netherwelp pet should be available after maintenance next week for characters that you move to The Burning Crusade Classic in pre-patch.

Just speak to innkeepers in major cities or Landro Longshot in Booty Bay, if you have the original Collector’s Edition license on your World of Warcraft account.

Hello.

We have not been planning to open guild banks with the launch of Burning Crusade Classic.

They’re going to come into the game in a future patch, and we’re working to make that happen sooner than it would have if we’d followed the original patch progression (guild banks were originally in the same patch as Zul’Aman).

I see that the team has been verifying a fix for this.

It will probably go to the PTR today, and should be fixed in on live Burning Crusade Classic realms when they go live on Tuesday.

As we approach the moment when WoW Classic players will make the choice to move on to The Burning Crusade Classic (version 2.5.1) or stick with Classic Era (version 1.13.7), we will be connecting many Classic Era realms during maintenance on Tuesday, May 18.

This means that in each region/locale, we will create connected realms among groups of Classic Era PvP realms, or groups of Classic Era Normal realms, or Classic Era RP realms.

In this region, we will connect:

  • Anathema, Arcanite Reaper, Bigglesworth, Blaumeux, Fairbanks, Kurinnaxx, Rattlegore, Smolderweb, Thunderfury, and Whitemane
  • Arugal, Felstriker, and Yojamba
  • Ashkandi, Mankrik, Pagle, Westfall, and Windseeker
  • Atiesh, Azuresong, Myzrael, and Old Blanchy
  • Benediction, Faerlina, Heartseeker, Incendius, and Netherwind
  • Earthfury, Herod, Kirtonos, Kromcrush, Skeram, Stalagg, Sulfuras, and Thalnos

Our goal is to maximize the opportunities for Class...

Salutations, WoW Classic players! We’d like to inform you about a course correction we’re making.

When you log in to WoW Classic after the patch next week, each of your Classic characters will choose between staying in Classic Era (version 1.13) and progressing to Burning Crusade Classic (version 2.5). For those who want to play a character in both versions, we’re offering a service to purchase a character clone in the other version of the game.

This service – providing a player with a second copy of a character in a different game – is new for us. Our original concept of the value of this service was largely based on how we price other optional items and services. We want players who choose Classic Era realms to feel as though their choice comes with the possibility that they’ll be able to build relationships and guilds with other players they can count on.

However, over the last week or so, we’ve gotten a very large amount of feedback from the community, and w...

It’s fully open now.

It was still in name-reservation-only mode, and then we had to take it completely offline for a couple of minutes for … reasons. But it’s open now and testers are coming in.
