Fixed.

Dad realms unite!

As we approach the moment when WoW Classic players will make the choice to move on to The Burning Crusade Classic (version 2.5.1) or stick with Classic Era (version 1.13.7), we will be connecting many Classic Era realms during maintenance on Tuesday, May 18.

This means that in each region/locale, we will create connected realms among groups of Classic Era PvP realms, or groups of Classic Era Normal realms, or Classic Era RP realms.

In this region, we will connect:

  • Anathema, Arcanite Reaper, Bigglesworth, Blaumeux, Fairbanks, Kurinnaxx, Rattlegore, Smolderweb, Thunderfury, and Whitemane
  • Arugal, Felstriker, and Yojamba
  • Ashkandi, Mankrik, Pagle, Westfall, and Windseeker
  • Atiesh, Azuresong, Myzrael, and Old Blanchy
  • Benediction, Faerlina, Heartseeker, Incendius, and Netherwind
  • Earthfury, Herod, Kirtonos, Kromcrush, Skeram, Stalagg, Sulfuras, and Thalnos

Our goal is to maximize the opportunities for Class...

Salutations, WoW Classic players! We’d like to inform you about a course correction we’re making.

When you log in to WoW Classic after the patch next week, each of your Classic characters will choose between staying in Classic Era (version 1.13) and progressing to Burning Crusade Classic (version 2.5). For those who want to play a character in both versions, we’re offering a service to purchase a character clone in the other version of the game.

This service – providing a player with a second copy of a character in a different game – is new for us. Our original concept of the value of this service was largely based on how we price other optional items and services. We want players who choose Classic Era realms to feel as though their choice comes with the possibility that they’ll be able to build relationships and guilds with other players they can count on.

However, over the last week or so, we’ve gotten a very large amount of feedback from the community, and w...

It’s fully open now.

It was still in name-reservation-only mode, and then we had to take it completely offline for a couple of minutes for … reasons. But it’s open now and testers are coming in.

We’re about an hour away from opening the Dark Portal on the Launch Test beta realm for today’s test.

We’ve now updated the Launch Test realm. All of the characters that were previously there have been wiped, and the realm is again available for login.

We have the Launch Test realm in name reservation-only mode, so feel free to go ahead and create characters there to prepare for the test tomorrow.

Thanks!

Hello yes! We intend to turn on the character transfer service soon after realms go live with the update next week. We need to keep transfers offline until we’re done snapshotting all characters, but that will be finished during maintenance, so realm transfers can be resumed thereafter.

On a related note, we’ve made a small change to realm transfer restrictions. Previously, a player-character was restricted to taking a maximum of 2000 gold with them. Going forward, that maximum has been raised to 5000 gold.

It didn’t go well, so we’re doing it again.

Thank you very much to everyone who logged on to the Launch Test beta realm today and helped us test the opening of the Dark Portal.

Unfortunately, we ran into unexpected issues that prevented us from learning what we wanted to about how to best configure the game.

That’s why you test!

So we’re going to do this all again tomorrow, May 13, at the same time, 11:00 a.m. PDT (1:00 p.m. CDT, 2:00 p.m. EDT). Please join us if you can.

We appreciate it!

It looks like in the original code, the original development team intended to create a checkbox that toggled nameplate distance between 20 and 41 yards, but ran into a technical limitation.

In an upcoming build of the Burning Crusade Classic Beta, you can set the nameplate distance between 0 and 41 yards (inclusive) by setting this command in the chat box:

/script C_CVar.SetCVar(“nameplateMaxDistance”, 41)

Thanks for the suggestion!

In Chains of Domination, we’ve added Windows 10 ARM64 support to World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.

This makes it possible to run WoW on Windows 10 ARM64 devices, which it previously could not, and this is now testable in new build of the Chains of Domination PTR.

While our internal testing has been successful, we’re looking for any unexpected issues that might be out there, so please test the latest Chains of Domination PTR build on your Windows 10 ARM64 devices and let us know if you run into any issues here in this forum thread. In particular, we expect the performance of the game to be relative to the specifications of the device, so please feel free to tell us about your specs and how WoW performs for you.

Thank you very much.

Your PvP activities this week will count toward your rank in both Classic Era as well as the Burning Crusade Classic title system (which allows you to display the highest rank you achieved in WoW Classic).

However, we have to initialize our final Honor calculations before we take other steps that will culminate in the snapshot of all characters during maintenance, so we will end the PvP week up to a day early. In this region, we will end the PvP week at:

  • 7:00 a.m. PDT (10:00 a.m. EDT) on Monday, May 17
    • This is 22:00 AWST on Monday, May 17
    • This is 12:01 a.m. AEST on Tuesday, May 18
    • This is 2:00 a.m. NZST on Tuesday, May 18

From that time until maintenance begins, PvP activities will not count toward rank.

Good luck out there!

On Wednesday, May 12, at 11:00 a.m. PDT (2:00 p.m. EDT), we’ll open the Dark Portal on a new Beta realm to test the Burning Crusade Classic launch.

We’ll open the new realm “Launch Test” on Tuesday for character copy, and to make sure we test thoroughly, we’ve just sent out one last big wave of Beta invites.

Please join us on your copied character on the Launch Test beta realm on May 12, and head to Outland at 11:00 a.m. PDT. We plan to keep that realm open for several hours, with all zones and instances available.

Thank you very much!

In order to prepare our game service to be ready for both the upgrade to The Burning Crusade Classic and the availability of Classic Era realms on May 18, we will close the Auction Houses on all WoW Classic realms at 10:00 a.m. PDT (1:00 p.m. EDT) on Friday, May 14.

We expect Auction Houses to become available again when the game service resumes following maintenance on May 18.

We advise WoW Classic players to refrain from posting new auctions shortly before the closure, as it will not be possible for other players to access the AH thereafter, and deposit fees cannot be refunded.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hello.

I just confirmed with our dev team that yes, we intend Chronoboom Displacer to be usable in version 2.5 so that players who are raiding Naxx during pre-patch shouldn’t experience any difference.

I think the datamined item is just an older design that’s still hanging around, but isn’t being used at this time.

Not only is this an option; this is the only option.

The mount will move at 60% speed if you do not have epic riding and it will move at 100% if you have epic riding.

It’s a part of our process to have fully configured and tested Classic Era realms alongside what are soon-to-be Burning Crusade Classic realms. This stage of our testing requires a realm in each region that we can access (but players cannot).

The name is just a name that we chose in each region from a list of previously unused names.

It will probably disappear from the realm list in a few days. It doesn’t have any other purpose.

On November 3, 2020, we posted an update to our policy for input broadcasting software, and soon thereafter, we began taking action against accounts found to be using third party software to automatically mirror keystrokes to multiple game clients. We find that, like full automation of play, multiple-account mirroring disturbs the gameplay experience for the vast majority of players who control a single account at a time.

We will now additionally prohibit the use of all software and hardware mechanisms to mirror commands to multiple World of Warcraft accounts at the same time, or to automate or streamline multi-boxing in any way. Players found to be in violation of this policy are subject to account actions. These actions can include warnings, account suspensions and, if necessary, permanent closure of the player’s World of Warcraft account(s), as activities which effectively replicate automated gameplay are contrary to the terms and conditions of the Blizzard End-User Licens...
