To solve an issue with the new Shadowlands PvP vendors, we need to despawn them temporarily.

The vendors will return with the next realm restarts.

The tooltip for War Mode should only display the XP bonus if you’re not at max-level. At this moment, you’re at max level.

After the top of the hour, the XP bonus should appear.

Yes. Those players who wish for their alt characters to experience the quests as their first character did, can do so.

Threads of Fate exists for players who only wanted to experience it once (or twice or however many times they already did it), and with Threads of Fate, you can queue all four dungeons freely from the start.

We’d like to note a difference between the Shadowlands Beta and the live game that you’re going to experience later today.

On your first character to explore the Shadowlands, you will not be able to queue for a Shadowlands dungeon if you haven’t yet restored access to that dungeon’s zone via the main quest campaign for that zone.

For example, while Necrotic Wake will be available the moment you depart Oribos (when you first reach the Shadowlands), you’ll have to complete the Bastion campaign and reopen the way to Maldraxxus before you can queue for the Plaguefall dungeon. You’ll then later unlock Mists of Tirna Scithe and Halls of Atonement as you complete their associated campaigns.

On subsequent characters, all dungeons can be made immediately available to you via the Threads of Fate system.

Please note that we’re fixing a bug with the Night Fae ability Wild Spirits. It is not intended to deal area damage for each target hit by Explosive Shot. After this bugfix (very soon), it will deal area damage once per Explosive Shot cast.

Hello. I’d like to highlight some recent changes that should be testable in the Shadowlands Beta, and will be in place for the live game later today.

We’ve updated Abomination Limb to address the gameplay of having to move out of melee if there are no ranged enemies, to gain 3 Bone Shield charges, Rime, or Runic Corruption.

  • Abomination Limb now grants the buff on cast and again every 6 seconds for a total of 3 buffs (was 1).
  • Given the increase to the consistency and amount of the effect, Abomination Limb damage is reduced by 8%.

The Venthyr ability Swarming Mist has also been updated.

  • Swarming Mist deals reduced damage when damaging more than 5 targets.

Having Swarming Mist deal reduced damage beyond 5 targets should bring its power more inline with the other Death Knight Covenant abilities.

There is a meaningful change that should be highlighted here, among the other adjustments from late last week. As you know, the Necrolord ability Death Chakram had its damage increased by 10% and the Night Fae ability Wild Spirits had its damage increased by 10%. At the same time,

  • The Venthyr ability Flayed Shot had its chance to generate a free Kill Shot increased.

We saw a lot of feedback that Resonating Arrow’s ability to stack with and amplify other class cooldowns made it feel too much more attractive than the other Convenants, and this should somewhat address that.

Some tuning adjustments are in flight for Warlocks in Shadowlands. These should be hitting the Beta soon (and of course the live game that will mirror the Beta in 6 hours).

  • Scouring Tithe damage reduced by 10% (Kyrian ability).
  • Impending Catastrophe damage increased by 15% (Venthyr ability).
  • Decimating Bolt damage increased by 15% (Necrolord ability).

It cannot be said enough – thank you all for your testing and your thoughtful feedback.

Hello. I just wanted to highlight the answer to this question for leveling in Shadowlands.

The effects provided by the Draught of Ten Lands have been disabled for characters who are at level 50 or higher. We do not intend for there to be any exceptions to that.

The draught will still provide its expected effects to player-characters at level 49 and below.

Since we implemented an updated design for Shadowlands PvP gearing into the Beta this week, we’ve seen several requests for a more-detailed explanation of the intentions behind the system.

Previously in the Shadowlands Beta, we tested a design where Conquest served as both the currency for the Great Vault and the currency for purchasing PvP gear from the vendors, with a weekly cap. From the outset, two of our main goals with PvP gearing in Shadowlands were:

  • Give players more direct control over their gearing by spending earned Conquest at PvP vendors, with an accessible cap and catch-up system.

  • Allow the Great Vault to supplement PvP gearing for Rated players, with a rewards track that is closely aligned to other organized endgame activities (Mythic Keystone dungeons, Raiding).

However, in Beta testing, we found that because by definition Conquest can’t be earned after hitting the weekly cap, using the sa...

The new Shadowlands content will become available on all realms on Monday, November 23 at 3:00 p.m. PST (6:00 p.m. EST). At that time, players who have purchased Shadowlands will receive the quest “Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons” to start them on their way through the shattered sky. We’ve collected a few other things to consider before that time, as well thereafter.

WoW’s 16th Anniversary will end at 10:00 a.m. PST on Sunday, November 22.

With hotfixes to the Shadowlands Beta, we’re making some targeted changes to the Pelagos, Emeni, and Heirmir soulbinds.

One of our primary goals for the Soulbind system is to provide compelling choices and texture differences between Covenants as well as individual Soulbind trees. When one tree or trait is noticeably overperforming (or underperforming), it can distort those choices. These adjustments are intended to shrink the gaps that we’ve seen and make it easier for players to choose the Covenant and Soulbind they’re most interested in or best fits their playstyle.

  • Kyrian/Pelagos: Let Go of the Past now provides 1% reduced magic damage taken per stack, instead of Versatility.
    • The tooltip now reads "Using a spell or ability reduces your magic damage taken by 1% for 6 seconds. Using another spell or ability increases this amount by 1% when it is not a repeat of the previous spell or ability, stacking to 3%.

  • Nec...

We appreciate that AMD made it possible for us to update World of Warcraft: Shadowlands to include their FidelityFX Combined Adaptive Compute Ambient Occlusion (CACAO), a new implementation of screen-space ambient occlusion. This is an effect used in World of Warcraft to improve graphical fidelity. Here’s a bit of a deep dive into what CACAO is, why it was integrated into World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, and what was gained by doing so.

What is AO?

Ambient Occlusion (AO) is the concept in graphics where the overall lightness affecting a surface in an environment is diminished by the presence of other nearby surfaces. Those other surfaces block, or occlude, some of the non-directional scattered light in the scene from reaching the affected surface.

Think about a car on the highway on a sunny morning. The car would have both a shadow – a sharp outline of the silhouette of the car cast opposite the direction of the sun – and a softly shaded area on ...

With this week’s patch 9.0.2, we’re adding native Apple Silicon support to World of Warcraft. This means that the WoW 9.0.2 client will run natively on ARM64 architecture, rather than under emulation via Rosetta.

We’re pleased to have native day one support for Apple Silicon.

While our testing has been successful, we’re highly aware of the nature of day one support with updates like this. Please let us know if you run into any issues that may be related to Apple Silicon in our Mac Technical Support forum.

Thank you very much.

We’ve identified a number of items that were disproportionately powerful for their item level, especially going into Shadowlands, where reaching max level should come with new, more powerful items to wear. So we’re making the following adjustments with patch 9.0.2:

  • The Heart of Azeroth’s secondary stats have been reduced by 20%.
  • The power of several legacy trinkets has been reduced in all content. The effectiveness of the following trinkets have been reduced by 15%:
    • Dead-Eye Spyglass
    • Harlan’s Loaded Dice
    • Lustrous Golden Plumage
    • Peerless Alchemist Stone
    • Tiny Electromental in a Jar
    • Torment in a Jar
    • Vial of Animated Blood
    • Writhing Segment of Drest’agath
  • The effectiveness of the following trinkets have been reduced by 25%:
    • Azshara’s Font of Power
    • Corrupted Gladiator’s Badge
    • Corrupted Gladiator’s Insignia
    • Galecaller’s Boon
