Sorry my wording wasn't meant to say DPS was added, but that the consistency was. The overall damage was not changed just how it's distributed among the squadron and as expected yes the plane losses are higher but perhaps higher than necessary.

There will always be a skill gap between the high performers, regular folks, and us potatoes but that skill should be rewarded with higher efficiency and reward. In terms of AA, we are continuing to make adjustments to that (there are more in testing) and the sector AA redesign should provide something better what's currently in the game. This is definitely a concern of ours and this weeks update was just one step to addressing it.

Hey guys, we've of course seen a lot of feedback recently about subs in large part due to our Naval Legend series on the Cod. The submarines in last years Halloween mode were largely reported by you guys as a fun addition to the game. While we do consider this a successful test, there is still quite a bit of focus on existing balance (like AA) and ensuring we get that where it needs to be.

That being said, based on last year was there a major concern you had about them?

With respect, applying damage to planes randomly is not consistent and created situations where squadrons could attack and walk away with minimal damage based on good RNG. We recognize this was a major change but does now provide that level of consistency and improves AA interaction. This along with further changes to sector AA will improve the systems usability and provide the counterplay many players have been asking for.

There was testing done on PTS for weeks before it went live and the change does in fact work. The adjustments which may be required to planes are relatively minor (but still important) in comparison and can be done fairly quickly.

As mentioned above the recent change to AA in 0.8.5 while accomplishing it's goal (consistent DPS) may be more efficient than preferred. We've certainly seen feedback about the Repair consumable as well and as data is reviewed next week adjustments could be made based on that data.

It was a major change and we know possibly jarring (especially if you are newer to CVs) so please bear with us as we make any necessary adjustments.

I think this mixed with the time investment makes this mode really appeal to a lot of folks (myself included). It does take some getting used to if you don't frequent DDs (it's really fast) but definitely breaks up the day to day battles in Random.

We'll announce information on the start of that pretty soon. There was a technical issue that delayed the launch, but rest assured it's coming.

The goal of the change was to add consistent DPS based on the communities feedback and this was a huge change. While the overall damage did not change, the distribution of it did and yes if we see plane losses are becoming excessive we can make more minor changes to adjust it.

The data from this weekend and early next week should provide the information needed to make adjustments. Until then we appreciate everyone's patience!

First of all welcome to the game! If you haven't seen our Dev Blog, we're in the process of discussing additional balance changes that should put CVs closer to where we'd like them. The overall AA change was good (consistency) but it's impact has been a little over efficient. We're watching the data very closely and will announce something in the very near future about a hotfix.

The anti-CV attitude is a bit of a long running concern that is too lengthy to even describe here. Please don't take it personally but yes we do have some folks who sadly feel TKing an allied CV is an appropriate response. I can assure you most of the community while willing to express frustration of CVs at times is not like that.

The change was ultimately made to provide consistency in DPS for surface ships and remove some of the randomness.

I know I personally ran into a number of situations in a AA spec ship where squadrons could make multiple passes on me and barely get a scratch. Now we are confirming with this blog that the change is still good (consistency is a great thing!) but it might have impacted CVs a little more than the team would like. We're going to watch data from this weekend and make adjustments as needed.

In the top left of your port screen, click on the image and that should take you to the Directives screen. For the first round you'll need to accomplish 5 tasks which will reward Fuel Tokens when you are done.

As of this morning all Directives should have unlocked and begun providing tokens for completing them. We did call this out in the patch notes so hopefully yesterday was a great opportunity for everyone to get familiar with the new mode.

Hey Burnsy, first thank you very much for taking the time to write this up. It's incredibly constructive and I appreciate it.

The AA change yesterday will certainly require an adjustment of tactics for anyone who hits a flak cloud or lingers a little too long in general AA range. Previous to this there were situations where a CV could make an entire pass and due to DPS distribution easily heal up and return most if not all their squadron safely. From a surface ship side this is not a really ideal experience.

As you said, Saipan does have a lower squadron size (compared to Midway) so the loss of a plane will hit you harder than some of the other CVs. This was a general change made that impacts all CVs and we aren't ignoring that, but right now we are monitoring CV and surface ship performance. Other regions are just getting the update today and it's just too early to tell how this change impacts the overall balance. This of course isn't to say ...

Hey folks, today's AA change did make some changes which we are actively watching data and reading your sentiment for. We want to hear your experiences (positive or negative) from both a CV and surface ship perspective.

For CVs, if you are effectively dodging flak clouds, your attacks should still be dealing similar first strike damage. You cannot however loiter in AA range and will need to be a little more wary of ships with stronger AA in close proximity. This extra time in that range will more consistently destroy your squadron and require an adjustment in tactics.

Again balance is ongoing but we're watching and listening!

Also folks let's please keep feedback constructive. If you have a specific experience please share it.

It's Day 1 and folks are excited, but this event will last throughout the entire update so there will be plenty of time to join in.

The Georgia is still currently available via the premium shop as mentioned above and will remain in the Armory for Coal until further notice. If for some reason it is removed from the Armory we will provide plenty of notice beforehand, but there are not plans to do so at this time.

There are other items in the Armory you can spend your excess tokens on once you've purchased the Benham but no we don't have any planned giveaways of these ships.

Currently the Benham will only be available either through the Rogue Wave mode (rewards start tomorrow) or via the Rogue Wave containers. They may look a little pricey to just get the Benham but there are some considerably good general items in them as well such 1,000,000 credits, 50k commander XP, and 10k coal.

The Benham will only be available for Fuel Tokens at this time so once you have her, you have her.
