zaunite adc+supp, void jungler AND udyr all releasing pretty close to eachother, i hope the development goes smoothly and none of them gets delayed

Udyr is still a ways off. This is due to his multiple forms, which make his base and as a result all his old skin catalog take a lot longer to make as well as having a ultimate skin.

I guess, if you can share, how you guys chose her as the Ruined candidate of Bilgewater, was it because she’s a captain and Pyke is a captain hunter

No it’s because we wanted to continue her story arc from the game. We wanted to show how desperate she was to get Bilgewater back from GP. She saw what GP could do with the power of the black mist and she becomes desperate enough to try using the same power to get her city back. That’s why she willingly gave herself to Viego in the RotS story

are the upcoming adc+supp coming early next year characters from arcane season 1?

No, that’s the reason we moved them out of the end of the year. I couldn’t get specific at the time since i couldn’t say what the event was when the roadmap came out, since it was dull under wraps. We felt it would be weird to release champs that aren’t related to or in Arcane in the middle of the Riot x Arcane event. That being said, with how much Arcane has resonated with so many players, Champs team is definitely excited to explore characters from Arcane, that would make sense in a MOBA, in the future.

Out of curiosity, if you could redo the Ruined King event, is there anything you would chance? and if so, what?

And if not, will you take the overall fan reaction tot the lore event into account if or when another lore event happens and what would be done different then?

Of course, their are many things I would have done differently and we will 100% take player feedback for future events. We are currently working on a devblog retro of the ruination campaign that should go into a lot of details on this. We are trying to get it out before the end of the year

Well compared to the Warhammer universe it seems like paradise. In that universe gettin randomly offed is probably the base case scenario

Had a very interesting question that just popped up. With all these narrative focused games launching AROUND LoL & Summoners Rift. Has the emphasis on thematic for newly released/VGU'ed champions increased, decreased, will stay the same?

Knowing that thematic is important but not priority for a competitive PvP game like League of Legends. But also realizing that League of Legends yielded all this interest and love into the Runterran Universe.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Thematic has always been important for Champion releases. For Champions team our goal is always to make iconic and resonant Champions, across their visuals, narrative and gameplay

Current plan is for the 2nd Udyr Devblog to be very early next year

Just to clear this up because I have seen this misconception multiple times so far. Jag was not in the same position is Mark Yetter. Mark was the Lead Designer of the Gameplay Initiative, which includes SRT (who handles balance among other things like PreSeason, etc.) Champions Team and a few other teams. Jag was just the lead design for SRT. When Yetter went to a RnD team Jag took over doing the posts about balance, but didn't take over his position as Gameplay Design Lead

Yeah, her breadth went up a bit in the latest patch (though depth went down)

Hey man, I know you probably get a lot of replies on your comments so this might get lost in there, but just in case you might read this, I love the work you and your team have done with VGUs. Volibear is still my favorite champ to this day and this Udyr update looks awesome.

Thanks!

Hi Reav3, are you willing (or not) to tell us what the annual rate goal is for ASUs? Like 4 a year? 6? 2? 12 ;)

I won't comment on that, since the skins team is working on ASUs, and I don't generally like commenting on other teams projects. I will say it is A LOT of work to rebuild a Champion from the ground up (we do it on champs team all the time) since you also have to update most of the Champion skin catalog.
