Here's a summary of my perspective.

  1. Damage in modern League is currently higher than it's been in the past. This is just true.
  2. I personally believe that League could be better if damage was a bit lower. Makes for more dynamic fights.
  3. We started hearing a lot of "damage is out of control, the game is ruined" comments a few years back, so we surveyed players to better understand the sentiment and found that on average players felt fine with the amount of damage in the game. IMO, things could be improved, but the situation doesn't seem to be as dire as those comments make it out to be.

Part of making a game that stays engaging for as long as League has is taking risks. We're not going to know the exact perfect outcomes of everything we make. For every change the seems harmless and ends up broken, there's another change that seems broken and ends up harmless. Remember when people said plants would ruin the game? They turned out great. Remember when people said Senna would be unbalancable with team stealth? She may have balance problems, but the stealth isn't really one of them.

The hurricane thing on Zeri was intended. I thought it'd be a cool interaction. Part of her interest as a champion is all the weird things her Q can do when combined with the item system. We already do something similar with hurricane and Jinx rockets (people also said that would be broken, but it ended up fine). Turned out we underestimated just how strong Zeri's hurricane really was compared to Jinx's and had to remove it, but I'm glad we didn't preemptively shut it down without k...

  • lvl5 zeri with a long sword does 10 damage to a 60 armor target

hell, 3 items lvl 14 zeri (kraken, IE, ER) does 28 (no crit) and 57 (crit) each instance

  • Amumu with ONE finished item (sunfire and plated steelcaps) and maxed E reduces the damage by 13 with 135 armor.

Which means that yes, unless zeri crits a 3 item zeri will do ZERO damage to a 1 item + steelcaps amumu and when she crits she will deal a whopping 2 DAMAGE(may be 1-2 more not sure tho)

(lvl13 amumu with runes, steelcaps, and sunfire = 195 armor. thats 66% reduction. 57damage - 66% = 19.38 -12% = 17.05)

If only I didn't know so little about my own game.

press R, takes damage instances from 7 to 3 (obviously amumu is still very strong vs. Zeri, but this is a way to make the matchup less rough)
