Ahhh... His ult DOT adds Liandry's burn, which refreshes elder burn. Basically the perfect champ for elder right now! And he was probably super fed, looking at that 15k gold lead.

Very satisfying!

I appreciate your passion and effort, but you just created about 1000 more words of rules to add to his kit.

Game has more players now than it did in 2016. That's a pretty strange definition of dying!

Sorry you're getting flamed, would suggest you mute everyone and keep having fun learning the game.

Look at this when you get time off from whatever it is you do there.

We fixed this bug this morning and pushed it out to players. Inside of a day of learning of the bug.

There's a good reason we haven't done this yet. I'm sure if you Google it, someone more articulate than me has explained before.

I'm British. My humour doesn't travel well across the internet.

However! I do think it's a great idea and I have made a note to bring it up in future.

Did you guys seriously never think of this before?

Sometimes I like to interact with the Reddit community in a positive way. Imagine that!

Fixed now via micropatch!

is it not possible to still get good data, if you look at games that were even after the drake was taken and thus have an estimate of gameimpact? With the amount of games that happen you should still get enough data

Kiiind of! We are lucky that we have loads of data coming in (worked on some video games where you have to form plans from 100's of games, not 100,000's), but separating causality from correlation is really tricky.

If a team has a 70% WR after taking 3 dragons, is that the power of dragons, or were they able to freely take 3 dragons because they were really strong and in a position to just take them?

Of course, didn't think of that. I just reckoned there'd be some kind of a "must test" list.

Oh well, thank you for fixing it now at least.

You're welcome! I shall now become 94% less salty and thank you for softening my cold heart. 😊

I do wish I'd have personally seen this bug coming...

Not really, considering a bug like this has happened before (Death's Dance and Aery, Infernal and Aery) like other people in this thread has already said. That should warrant a test when implementing a DoT longer than 2 sec...

"Warrant a test" I'm sure our QA team tested 150+ interactions, but this one slipped through. Unfortunate, but not unexpected.

Players often seriously underestimate how vast and complex league is to test, sometimes.

Anyway, it'll get fixed asap.

Because it hasn't even been out for 1 whole month yet? And I've just seen this video here 5 minutes ago to learn about the bug?

Kinda stupid thing to say tbh.

that's three different times this has happened now. Death's Dance, Infernal Soul, and now Elder buff. Jesus, you'd think they'd learn by now.

There's a LOT of interactions in the game, and fortunately you guys play millions of games per day and find them! I'll make sure the team records and fixes this bug asap.

Apologies!

EDIT: now fixed with a micropatch!

This is a basic statistical misunderstanding because a huge part of that winrate is correlation.

Same reason Rabadon's deathcap has a high winrate. Not because it's broken, but because you buy it when you're already snowballing. In other words, it gets correlated with winning teams.

So it is with drakes. The team that was better/played better/was winning anyway would pick up the drakes along the way, so of course drakes would have a high winrate.

Here's an example. It's probable that firstblood has a surprisingly high correlation with winrate. But that doesn't imply first blood's reward is too strong. It implies that the better player, who is going to win lane, is likely to be the one to have gotten first blood anyway.

Who are you and why are you bringing LOGIC here?! I feel uncomfortable...

(I kid! I kid! I love coming to this subreddit. You're all an amazing, passionate community and I wouldn't swap you for anything. This post is excellent, though. They're totally right.)

I did some work on new Elder, but was many VFX and bug fixing. We killed a lot of ideas that we got negative feedback on for preseason so we are good at being as unbiased as possible.

It's more that these clips always have dozens of other contributing factors in them. Diana being fed into space with all dragons, Baron buff and full items probably did most of the work against the enemy team.

Remove this braindead elder dragon execute from the game or at least make it much harder to kill.

Oh please. Look at Diana here: super fed, Liandry's burn, Void staff, levels above opponents. She enters fight with Dragon soul, Baron buff and then steals Elder. If the other team had secured Elder, they'd have likely still been obliterated by her.

These are exceptional (and awesome to see!) edge case videos. That's why they're posted to Reddit: because they happen 1 in 1000 games.
