Edit 3 days after : only one crash/freeze since

You're welcome, though I apologise for you having to jump through silly hoops just to play. Don't forget to change it back when the patch is out.

Honestly not sure at this point. Given that I don't have an ETA, I'll throw out one idea that one user reported fixed their issue. He said even though -maxthreads didn't work, he changed the number of cores available to Windows to 4 (in the windows settings) and he said that it resolved the issue for him. If you're feeling ambitious, you might give it a try. Here's a link on how to do it: https://smallbusiness.chron.com...

Nope, that wasn't the fix. We are still working on getting it out ASAP, but ran into a snag.

We're working on it and hoping for tomorrow, but we can't rush the update at the risk of introducing new issues. The "fix" isn't the kind where you find an obvious bug, change a few variables, and it works. This particular bug involves timing issues in the job/thread queue getting hung up, which is an extremely low level system; any changes to it need to be carefully vetted and tested across as many hardware configurations as possible, which takes time. Ideally we would have a way for players to opt-in to "beta" builds for fixes like this (like Steam has), but unfortunately we don't have that capability at present. I know none of this information helps you or anyone experiencing the issue to crash less, but I do hope the added context and clarity reduces your frustration with how long it's taking.

If you can, please try running the game with "-maxthreads 3" and report back if that solves or improves the issue.

Jumping in here too. 9700k not overclocked. Game just locks up and freezes the pc. Only a hard reset fixes it

No specific updates, but we are aware and investigating. See https://trello.com/b/ZVrHV38P/apex-tracker for further updates.

Only thing that i can think of is maybe high ping. I play on Singapore server where i get 70-90 ping and those servers are really shitty. Their performance is just as inconsistent as the game's performance so i am guessing that they are interrelated.

It's one of the biggest issue for me, having my mouse suddenly feel muddy throws me off so much, it's like someone lowered my sens. I use a g305 and have my game installed on SSD but i don't think that's an issue. Also play the game on all low settings.

Is this thing being looked at? If not, please consider this.

I'll forward this and see if I can dig up any additional information. The issue doesn't appear particularly widespread which might make it difficult to track down, but we'll try. Both of you mention having this issue since S2; did it begin with the release of the S2 update, or was it one of the mid-season patches?

You don't "have to" report bugs in a reddit thread. There's also a very active EA support site as well: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/bd-p/apex-legends-bug-reports-en

I respond here because the site listed above already has an army of people looking at it and getting the reports and information to the team.

My avg fps before the issue was 100+, now sitting at 35 avg every game. I have attempted many things on my side to fix the issue and none have prevailed. One thing I wanted to add to the list of many things is that the GPU isn't being fully utilized. It sits around 40%. Many others have reported the same issue.

While I dont think the issue is RAM related, for your sake I ran the game with "-maxthreads 3" or "-maxthreads 4" and neither of those changed the results. I hope we can get this issue fixed, thanks for looking into it. :)

What does your CPU usage look like when the issue happens? Does the issue occur in Training?

I had zero issues with season 2 and with the launch of season 3 people with i7 9700k’s have been experiencing freezing and having to restart their computer. This has been happening to users who don’t have their cpu overclocked as well as those who do have their cpu overclocked.

Yeah, we're already looking into that one

The settings have absolutely no impact on the extremely low FPS. Whether they are ultra or as low as possible, the FPS remains the same (35-45 when looking anywhere but at a wall)

Please ask any questions about anything and I'll reply in as much detail as I possibly can with screenshots, clips and whatnot as per your request. I'd love to help you ascertain the cause of this issue!

It is great to hear Respawn comment on this, as weeks without hearing anything is unnerving, so the reply is very welcomed.

A few more things:

1) How much RAM do you have?

2) Can you try running the game with "-maxthreads 3" or "-maxthreads 4"?

Follow this wonderful individual's guide step by step to fix the issue with Apex Legends having altered their Anti-Cheat program, which left it interfering with performance to an enormous degree.

Huge thanks for those of you that took the time to offer productive help instead of general throwaway FPS improvements and even bigger thanks to this wonderful individual who posted a method of fixing this.

Do adjustments to game quality settings have any effect on FPS? If so, is there are there any particular settings that seems to have a large effect?

Is the problem any better or worse at particular times during the game, or is it constant throughout the match?

For the record, we're not ignoring this issue. It appears to be effecting a small number of users, and we have been unable to reproduce it on any of our hardware so far, but we are trying.
