The revamp is taking a bit longer than expected. We are still in the process of overhauling the backend of the combat and ability systems before we touch the front end components. The changes and prototypes will be rolled out slowly and in phases during and post alpha one 🙏

Cosmetics can be reassigned to other characters on an account. But only ever active on one character at a time. There will also likely be a cool down for reassigning them

I don’t consider exclusivity predatory, and I am upfront about that. I believe if as a player I am going to spend money on a skin, I want it to be exclusive. But I understand this is a matter of opinion.

The best skins will be in-game achievable (obviously “best” is subjective, so I’d say the most ornate and detailed/unique).

Is that really what’s happening, though? How much time and resources do the cosmetics take up?

No this does not happen. The current monthly cosmetics actually are dual purposed in helping to populate the npc population in the game as well with variant models.

Hello friends, a quick clarification on the shop cosmetics.

There will not be recolors or material swaps on the monthly cosmetics as a means to populate additional achievements in game by player characters. There will however be variants of the cosmetics for NPC populations including quest-givers, guards, merchants and creatures. Additionally, from an armor standpoint, we cut armor sets up into many different pieces. These pieces can sometimes be used as part of other sets, that may include helmets, wrists, gloves etc. So while you will not see an achievable white version of the corvid castigator set in the game for example, you may see its shoulder piece used in another set, or its leggings, or wrist piece used in another set (not every piece as to form the whole set, but perhaps a couple pieces). This would be difficult to notice at first glance, due to the material, texture and color variation used, but this modular approach to content creation makes achieving a wide ...

Hello friends, just as a reminder, the FX are still a work in progress and will continue to be refined, and slightly toned down. Also the levitating fireball animation will be grounded in our future passes. I think we got pretty good feedback on that one lol 😂❤️

Hi friends!

I’d like to reiterate and address some comments.

These skins are part of our pre-order packages. The skins cycle monthly and are never available again for purchase. The packages include a nice amount of subscription time, embers (virtual currency for future cosmetics when the game is live), perks (name reservation), ability to purchase future pack skins as add-ons, and finally access to different alphas and betas.

Ashes, and Intrepid, will never provide gameplay benefits through purchasable items in our marketplace. We are 100% non-p2w.

I also do not agree with box-prices or charging for expansions/DLC. We are very transparent in the business model of subscription with cosmetic only marketplace.

I’ve also made clear that the cosmetics achievable in-game will be on par, and in the case of legendary skins, more elaborate than the shop items.

Thing is, those smaller studios and dev teams still exist. It's not a sign of the times.

And you're kind of deluding yourself if you think game development was ever not focused on maximizing potential revenue with the product. Developers are not artists, and are not your friends. They're working a business, and trying to get the most profit possible out of their work is completely normal.

Pretty sure one of the reasons Albion is decently healthy is due to the extremely simplistic graphics and systems. Apples and oranges, really, I don't think it's the PvP element that's truly behind Albion's success, accessibility is.

I’m sorry. But your opinion is pretty dark. I cannot speak for other studios, but at Intrepid we do consider mani in the community our friends. We often talk about individuals in the community, their creations, their lives and care about the people we’ve met. Not every project boils down to maximizing profit. There are such things as passion projects where the focus lies in making the best product that fits a vision, and not the bottom line.

Great discussion. As I’ve said before the intent is to provide friends who may be more casual in their daily playtimes, a means to catch up to the location of their group.

I will not allow a system in place that circumvents the resource or region mechanics. Nor will an implementation be allowed that could abuse my “anti-Zerg” desires. The testing for this feature will be present in A2 and I will always err on the side of caution when examining the data we collect around this mechanic. Keep up the discussion 👍🙏
