“Root” just means “raíz” (Racine), it’s not an actual folder, it just means “The base of the drive”, so if you have a disk drive called C, the root is “C:”.

So what he meant, is that instead of:
C:\SomeFolder\User\DesktopMaybe\SomeOtherFolder\Download\DedicatedServerLauncher\Conan"
you just put in
C:\ConanLauncher

or something like that, short and nice, no long path, no spaces, ñö accentuatèd charactærs…

Probably a case of server rewriting the information before quitting, and actually overwriting whatever was modified :-/

Were you changing these values with the server already running, or did you shut down the server first, then changed and saved the values, then started the server?

Thanks Andy, much appreciated

If everybody is happy with the change, I’ll take the opportunity to re-arrange the top post, update the FAQ, etc…

What I posted is all I know on the topic, sorry!

For details on how that actually work (or not), I would advise you to ask on either the Admin’s United Conan discord, or on the other forum threads related to gameplay features.

You need to edit your ServerSettings.ini (you can access the location by clicking the blue icon with a folder and a gear on the left side of the log).

In this file, locate these two lines:

AllowedTimeUndermesh=-1.000000
AllowedDistanceUndermeshSquared=490000.000000

Here is what our documentation says:

The two following conditions need to be met at the same time for the undermesh killing system to trigger.

AllowedTimeUndermesh

Determines how long you have to be detected as being undermesh being killed, given in seconds. This is also the parameter that is used to enable and disable the system. A setting of -1 will disable the system, 0 wi...

The only solution I can think of, is to basically maintain a complete copy of the game data and mods on a separate folder, try to update that asynchronously on the side, eventually repeating again and again until it works, and on restart instead of calling SteamCMD, copy from the separate folder.

Regarding zombies, did you have that only trigger on exit (stuck restart), or did it also happen on normal runnings, with the server freezing while running?

@Kennbo @SailorSat I assume that in both cases, it’s machines with only one monitor?

I tried on my main machine that also has a 2560x1440 screen… plus a bunch of other screens, and I tried all the rescale parameters from 100 to 225%, but the truncation does not happen, possibly because I have more desktop screen estate. Can you confirm you only have one screen before I try to disable my other screens  ?

Minor fix to the 1.4.4 version, one of the testers found out that his server restarted properly 8 times, but as it happens, there was also a spurious restart caused by the clock (apparently) going temporarily backward for a second or so.

1.4.5 (29 april 2021)

If a few of you can test that this version works fine, and that the Zombie check behave as expected, please te...

Have you tried to run this server with all the other VM/game servers shut down?

Generally the “Failed to bind” happens when a port on a specific IP is already used by something else, in that case the solution is to other have another network adapter (that requires using MULTIHOME to select the right one), or to use a completely different set of ports for each server (and obviously redo the port forwarding).

In your configuration, which services are associated to ports 8291 and 14001? These are some quite unusual port choices

Made a minor version with some tweaks reported by one of the testers of th Zombie feature.

1.4.4 (19 april 2021)

  • The “Looks like this is an unkillable Zombie :’(” message should not be displayed anymore if the server was successfully killed just before
  • The “Checking if SteamCMD started…” should appear less frequently now
    Dedicated Server Launcher 1.4.4

If it works for everybody, it will replace 1.3.8 as the new version, if you found some blockers, please tell ...

Sure, you can even keep the old one if you want, they are generally compatible, and you can switch from one to the other, that rarely cause problems

Nope, no idea, and unfortunately the error message it not clear enough, so I just pushed a new version that adds the error code in the error message.

Another minor version, with tweaks on the Zombie Check and Discord Webhook features

1.4.1 (12 april 2021)

  • The “Zombie Check” now ignores the “other” part of the IO information: Apparently when the server is stuck on shut down, it still perform some other stuff.
  • Added some magic tokens to the messages: {server_pid}, {map_name}, {date_now_iso}, {date_now_human} (please note that the ISO date is in UTC, while the human readable one is using the local time of the server)
  • The magic tokens can now be used in the Discord bot name, so you can use {servername}: ‘{map_name}’ if you want to display the name of the server and the selected map automatically
  • The Discord JSON packet will now use the “description” instead of the “...

Apparently since this week-end the Discord Webhook messages sent by the Dedicated Server Launcher are failing to appear on Discord, I managed to diagnose the issue as being related to the formatting of the time stamp which used to just accept “embeds” and “timestamp”, but for some reason it looks like the “...

And Easter is behind us, back to work!

Since apparently the new https CDN links are working fine, I edited the top post to fix all the URL to use the new link, which means the current 1.3.8 and 1.4.0 links should now be working fine for everybody:

  • The current official version: 1.3.8 (released 22 January 2021).
  • The latest beta version: 1.4.0 (released 24 March 2021).

Regarding the server crashes, please don’t ask me to look at them, I simply don’t have the elements or knowledge to answer the...

Maybe I fumbled when adding the new settings for the zombie checker, like overwrote the same entry in the ini file, will have to check that.

Anything special in the launcher log, compared to normal restart?

Comment

Damn… guess I’ll have to check that next week: Is it “tends to” or is it “always” skip?

See: Conan Exiles Dedicated Server Launcher (Official Version: 1.3.8 / Beta: 1.4.0) - #1959 by Toolguy

If you want an older version, you need to copy the link and use something like Internet Explorer, or any other browser that does not try to use HTTPS everywhere, because for some reason the place where the files are hosted is failing at answering HTTPS requests (works in HTTP).
