I'm going to DM you to get some details

Same here in East Europe, everybody has 45-50ms ping on the servers. Except for some rare lucky bastards with 15ms ping.

We have some work to do in Eastern Europe. Now that we have Warsaw servers you should be getting less than 40-50, but we need to optimize some routing and you're probably still playing on Frankfurt. Hopefully you see an improvement over time. What country are you in?

Honestly, the player population and distances involved will never justify the investment. Sorry to my friends in Rarotonga!

What about the Caribbean? Same thing happens with 60-80 ms

Honestly, the Caribbean is about as good as it's going to get. Y'all are currently hosted out of Miami. If you don't mind me asking, are there games you get a better ping to? I'd like to see where they're hosted from.

In theory, but in reality we have better ping in your Singapore servers as these yield us with around 50-70 ping while Hong Kong servers give us around 100-150 with varying packet loss.

It would be better if we had the option to manually choose the servers that are available in our region. Its very frustrating to be automatically placed in HK servers and to be forced to play with 100+ ping when we know we would have better chances at consistent and reliable ping in Singapore servers.

Except that's now how it works, the matchmaker tries to put you on the server with the lowest ping. So if Singapore is better it will put you there. The problem in the Philippines is likely the inconsistency, so that's the thing we'll try to address when we're about to.

Will that help the players in egypt and north africa?

Unlikely! Egyptian ISPs route their traffic up to Europe, same with North Africa (check this out https://www.submarinecablemap.com/ ), so servers in Bahrain likely won't make a difference. We'll be standing up some game servers in Madrid soon which may help some parts of North Africa (particularly Morocco).

In the future, it would be nice to have Egpytian players on the Bahrain servers so that Arabic-speaking players were together, but what we're finding is that it will be very difficult to give them a better ping to Bahrain than they'd get to mainland Europe. We;ll keep an eye on it though!

Does that mean people with accounts in those regions will just notice a seamless transition to the new servers?

Yep, right now if (for example) you're playing from Dubai, you're likely playing on the Frankfurt servers. Once Bahrain is online you should automatically start playing on Bahrain.

I feel like if this is true and out in the open, then it would be nice to allow cross server play for customs and premade 5s.

You're restricted to a shard (EU, NA, LATAM, BR, APAC, KR) based on your home region. The shards are roughly split up to distribute player populations so we have a sensible way to scale the game. We have no current plans to allow cross-shard play.

Regarding these particular areas, Bahrain will be added to the EU shard, and Mumbai will be added to the APAC shard, so players from the Middle East and India won't see any change other than lower latency.

Imagine playing against a 5 -stack, while you youreself always have 3-4 russians on your team who can't communicate and wouldn't do it in english even if they could. How is that fair and what is riot going to do about i? It's literally killing the game in eu..

Sorry you're experiencing that! We'll continue to try and improve matchmaking so this doesn't happen.

I'd like to improve the Philippines, in theory the ping there should be ok to our Hong Kong game servers. As we get through our immediate focus (e.g. Bahrain/Mumbai) we'll be looking for other places to invest effort. No firm timeline though.

How about servers that are actually for North Latin America? Mexico is only one country and is far away from the other latin american countries. Any chance you guys are gonna add a server for Colombia?

Right now Colombia is served out of Miami, so not great, but better than Mexico. We're focused on standing up Middle East and India right now. No guarantees on a timeline, but we will look at Colombia latency in the future.

Where you at? We have servers in Atlanta, Virginia and Chicago.

Hey friends, let me give you some info on where we're at:

Middle East (Bahrain) and India (Mumbai) servers are extremely likely to arrive by end of year. We do care about these regions, and we're close to being able to announce actual dates.

Neither of these locations are likely to help Kazakhstan, because Kazakhstan is just a long way away from all of our game servers. Let me be real with you: Kazakhstan will not be getting a low ping in the near future, and I couldn't say when it will. The best servers are going to either be Warsaw or Stockholm, and over time we'll try to improve routing from Kazakhstan (and nearby areas) to those servers, but they'll never be close to our "ideal" of 35ms or less.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! We do keep an eye on sentiment around these topics in Reddit (and elsewhere) and we definitely know we have room to improve. We've said it before and I'll re-iterate it again: we're in this for the long haul and want to work with you all to make VALORANT an amazing game. That doesn't mean we'll agree on every point, but always happy to hear your thoughts and I really appreciate the time you took with this!
