Yes, they're in the game as part of the original roster.
In earlier version it was broken so the price was a bit higher and it stayed this way
Funnily enough, the price came before we learned they were OP.

Probably, but I don't think they'd taste very good.
They were bred for crop fertilizing properties, not for taste or Polytopian nourishment. Maybe something you could add to a smoothie, but probably not very delicious in it's own right.
