You can now invite people to playtest your game during development without the need to publish your island!

Team owners and administrators can now create playtest groups for their projects in the new playtest tab of their project pages. This will generate a private island code for a specific version of your project and provide you with a link that you can share with testers that enables them to join the group and access the private island code.

Up to 50 playtesters are able to join each playtest group and they will be unable to edit islands. Playtesters must be 18 years or older to join a playtest group.

We’ve made a change to how you report bugs when working with the Fortnite Creative Toolset or UEFN. To make a bug report, you now post it directly to the Epic Developer Community forums, using the form on the “Issues and Bug Reporting” forum.
When creating a post, choose “New Issue” in the “New Topic” dropdown on the top-right of the forum.

The Fortnite lobby is getting an update! Every island will soon be able to have a unique background image, either created with third-party tools or using the new Photo Mode Capture Mode.

Currently, when groups of friends queue together to play an FNC or UEFN island they are not guaranteed to be matchmade into the same team. With the 26.20 update, republished islands where the team size is four or less will have an updated matchmaking experience.
When the size of the party is equal to or less than the team size, the party will be guaranteed to be placed on the same team. When the size of the party is greater than the team size, (e.g. four friends queue to play a 3v3 game), the party will be split with as many party members placed on one team as possible.

For upgraded islands, you will see a new island setting, ‘Team Fill Option’ with two options:

  • ‘Party Choice’ gives your players the option to fill their team as they can in Battle Royale
  • ‘Must Fill’ forces player’s teams to be chosen by the matchmaking system

Players and creators,

We have fixed an issue where players were unable to mantle properly in some UEFN islands. Creators have been having players respawn after spawning into the game for the first time as a workaround. This workaround is no longer needed.

The Community Momentum Row has launched! This row features experiences that new and returned players to the Fortnite ecosystem seek out and play. We will continue to iterate on this row and other row designs to empower creators.

This is the first of several features intended to support creators who are promoting islands outside of the Fortnite ecosystem. Stay tuned for more as we are also working to launch new user acquisition metrics in the Creator Portal in the coming weeks.
