The weapons on that ship are ODS class weapons (orbital defence systems) since the model is the same as the Thermopylae; giving insight that this ship may be a retired Frontier Wars transport. Those weapons are designed to take down ships such as the Sentinel that are probably the size of a neighbourhood. Dome shields run on a limited power capacity which is why they don't last forever (even when powered by a Titan battery). Under ODS fire, that portable version Gibby has wouldn't survive more than a few seconds and that's if he was lucky. Those few seconds wouldn't have helped since all the civilians are in panic mode and Maggie has direct visual to aim the weapon systems. All the panicking civilians would trample each other trying to get in the dome, and then when the dome is up Maggie would have an easy 25 or so to take out in one shot. Ironically, scattering would be the better option.

I've got a lot of thoughts on this topic.

It feels like there's a stalemate between devs and the people that play their games. I don't just mean here, but everywhere.

The same patterns play out in cycles, and it has all become very predictable.

Devs hide in their trenches, mostly, and occasionally you'll see one stick their head out and get torn to shreds. Cue the thread with 20k upvotes with players lamenting it. Then next week there'll be some fire about pricing on a cosmetic, and it's back to trench warfare.

We're hoping to help break the stalemate with things like seasonal AMAs, more regular messaging on our owned channels (like new content types on Respawn.com), and with more direct support for brave soldiers like Daniel Z. Klein who like to wade out amongst the people. That stuff matters, and it'll be worth doing.

But man. I sure wish the overall relationship between devs and players online felt different.

Check my math, but I think the most anyone would've lost from that BP progression bug is a full BP level. Turning on double XP until next week's pass should more than make up for the difference.

And so help me God if any more issues with this thing pops up...

EDIT: Just tested this myself (played a super sweaty game doing the Hemlock damage weekly challenge lol), and it didn't reset my star progression. If anyone else finds evidence of this happening, please share it here in the replies.

After we ship the latest announced changes next week, there will be very few differences between this pass and S6:

  • Stars instead of XP per level
  • Recurring weeklies removed, but dailies boosted in power considerably instead
  • No more weekly reset of cost for XP/level, so it costs a consistent 50k XP per level; But the Battle Pass boost now multiplies all XP earned toward stars in every game, meaning you'll get up to 50% additional as you level it up EDIT: I just found out I'm wrong on this, we decided to leave the boosts the way...

Seems dumb. My guess: it’s probably a consequence of the recent changes we’ve been patching in on the backend to improve the BP.

We’ll fix, hang tight. Back with an update by end-of-day today.

11:05 AM EDIT: Team's working on a fix. By EOD today I'll aim to post a second edit with timeline for changes and next steps.

2:40 PM EDIT: Just pushed out a fix. And turning on 2X XP from now until next week's patch to make up for the lost progress. I believe the most anyone should've lost because of this bug is one full battlepass level, so this should more than cover it!
