I actually spoke too soon. Running vulcan instead of opengl presents the return of an old problem. Now certain terrain models are black, they have no color or texture. Mountains aka rocks (like cliff and rock models on the map) are just black. The color and textures are missing. So basically I am trading one problem for another.
That is unfortunate. :(
