Their intentions may be good, but the result is that they take all the fun out of the game.

It does this. Check the party settings.

FWIW last time I stayed at cabana bay we had no issue finding a tube that someone just left in the river.

I would upgrade the CPU before the GPU.

I lost so much time to Phantasy Star Online. My first introductions to mmo like worlds and I’ve been chasing that first high ever since.

First of all: thanks for replying. I appreciate taking the time to come to reddit and reading through people's complaints.

I've been following the Steam discussions and it is true some of the crashes seem to be fixed, but not completely eliminated for what I can gather. It also scares me to put the SD over this level of stress to the point it randomly crashes.

I have no doubt these issues will be fixed with time, but what I can't agree with is the current verified tag. I've never played a verified game on SD with this level of issues, or where the recommendation is to tune down the resolution below the recommended profile.

Again, no doubt you guys will get there. Its just this first impression really left a very bad taste on my mouth.

It also scares me to put the SD over this level of stress to the point it randomly crashes.

To be blunt I feel this way about just about every game I have on my deck that does a lot of reading and writing to a device like Wayfinder does, that really isn't specific to us as the NVME will give you 3x the speed as the SD Card and will outlast just about any SD card.

The default profile of the deck (all settings medium, 85% res scale) should perform well within 30fps across all locations (and occasional bumps to 60+ in smaller areas like Lost Zones). In the past we had an issue with settings not applying and besides hardware that might be struggling due to age or heat I'm not sure what else you'd want to try bedsides manually adjusting settings or deleting local user settings and trying to restore the defaults.

Had the same experience as you had. I wanted to support the devs after the switch to offline and I bought the game because they said over a stream that "people in the office regularly played on Steam Deck and it was great". I refunded after an hour and a half of fiddling with settings, having crashes and looking online. I understand the switch to offline is tough and some things are hard to control, but the least you can do is be honest about your product. I hope the game gets optimized enough to warrant the verification. If so, I'll buy it again. But right now I feel lied to.

The issues you're referencing were introduced at launch after a patch and we have since fixed those crashes.

Those are all fair points. I understand it's early access, but my problem is that the game is basically unplayable on steamdeck, and it is being advertised as a steamdeck verified game. I know that might be more valve's decision that than airship syndicate, but it still shouldn't be steamdeck verified. If Airship syndicate is aware of the steamdeck problems, they should contact valve about removing it's steamdeck verified status.

Also about it being in early access, I don't expect an early access game to run flawlessly, but it needs to still be a playable game, especially at low settings. I probably will wait for 1.0 and then maybe try again.

Hello.

I understand it's early access, but my problem is that the game is basically unplayable on steamdeck,

We've done extensive testing on the Steam Deck for verification purposes and also have a default profile just for that device. The performance will change based on if you're in Highlands or Skylight or a Lost Zone. We've released 4 performance hotfixes for the deck itself and will continue to optimize the game on all platforms. As others have mentioned if you're running into issues with your deck suggest trying lower settings, especially the resolution to 720 since that'll make the biggest impact.

There is some prime real estate for a 3rd person ARPG and I want to see the best for wayfinder as a replayable action game.

This doesn't address the issue of the inconsistent spectra drop rate and the invalid implementation of jobs, bounties, and patrols. Do you plan to improve jobs? will bounties introduce random imbuements instead of cycling a static table? Will chests drop something more than cosmetics and housing items? chests currently drop a surplus of gloomstone, useless trinkets, and excess potions.

I understand you had unfinished content in the tank and would like to not see wasted production, but the systems under the hood don't seem entire...

It is. We've been 100% transparent about that in the AMA and our announce and our messaging. A lot rides on how 1.0 does. If it doesn't make financial sense to continue supporting the game, we won't be able to do so.

Hey there, thanks for typing this up. Wanted to point out a few things!

We are currently working on the next zone and Wayfinder which will be designed for 31+. The content that is in the game now is not the final content players will see in 1.0. As such, scaling everything to what is essentially not the "end" of the game doesn't make a ton of sense at this point. We'll be doing that post 1.0 with mythic expeditions and open world areas scaling to 30+. We shared more info during our AMA which you can find here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PlayWayfinder/comments/1di0gv6/ama_with_the_wayfinder_team_wednesday_619_2pm_ct/

As i posted on Steam:

It sounds like a permissions issue we've seen before. I'd check out this thread on how to run the game as admin once so that it can create the proper folders. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1171690/discussions/0/4333106094378791009/?ctp=2#c6725643618950932934

Highlands runs around 30-45 FPS with some dips here and there, and lost zones are 60+ FPS on Steam Deck / Ally. We'll continue to optimize but should be at these performance benchmarks with all defaults.

We’ve had 3 performance hotfixes so far and the majority of players have no issues. What are your specs and issues?

No new combos. But weight and response are adjusted some and we’ll continue to in future qol updates as mentioned in the last paragraph.

That's what happens when you multitask.

It’s not in the overview. As stated in the article that’s just some of the highlights.

Sad that there is no mention of the imbuements or spectra.

We really need a better way of crafting them. Having to go the ipen world to get material for the imbuements, and them farm only one boss for the spectras is not fun after the 5th hour.

QoL 1 will have 2x the spectra locations in Frostmarch.
