So it looks like the recent update for Steam deck has improved performance a tiny bit, but the game still crashes if you pause in the highlands open area to many times.

We believe we have found one of the root causes of this. We're working on 2 fixes. One is another that will reduce this further, while the second will eliminate it.

In the meantime, you can add the following to your Launch Commands in Steam to help reduce it even more.

-ExecCmds="r.MaxCharacterRenderSize=0"

How does that match up with the screenshot they provided?

Specifically, that 10AM pdt and 12am pst do not match? Though I suppose the real question is where they got that screenshot.

Alternatively they might just release it on steam a day or so earlier for preloads then they can control the time it “starts” aka they are enabling the servers independently of all the other platforms.

The graphics look poorly at the lowest so that’s weird that it’s so unstable. I think the dungeons got a bit better too, recently I had lags even there but tested it quickly now and worked better.

Yes, you will not be hitting 50+ in the Highlands on the Deck. It'll be closer to 30.

Patch Out now

  • Performance optimizations when in Highlands

  • Fixed crash related to the pause menu when on the Steam Deck.

PLEASE NOTE:

We’ll continue to make Steam Deck optimizations and investigate rare crashes that players still might see. While this fix should dramatically reduce them, in some edge cases the Deck could run out of memory and crash.

You can read more about the other changes here: https://steamcommunity.com/games/1171690/announcements/detail/4185613970206088543

EDIT 6/21/2024

We believe we have found one of the root cause...

Jumping in to say this before the AMA. We’re still waiting for PlayStation to transfer all rights over to Airship. The minute that is approved we’ll update everyone with a rough timeline. It is unfortunately entirely out of our hands.

Steam is issuing refunds if eligible. Those who purchased the original product and have less than 12 hours played are eligible.

Unfortunately with over 200 hours, you are outside that eligibility.

Love you guys !

I'll jump in BEFORE the ama to say this is known and we're working on it as we speak. This happened after an update and we believe we know why. Stay tuned.

Like the title says I was able to install HoloISO no problem. I was even able to use it and install a few things. After installing drivers for my controller, I can no longer get back to the OS. I can see the grub boot loader and I could see the option for Holo, it automatically selects it then just sits at a black screen.

This exact same thing happened before and I reinstalled everything. It’s doing it again, though immediately after installing the USB dongle firmware, which I don’t see why that would prevent my system from starting up.

I was gonna go ahead and repair the boot, but doesn’t seem to need that since it sees Grub. Any advice?

I just installed HoloISO onto a Trigkey micro pc. It was pretty painless but I can’t get my XBox controller to work.

I can connect to it via Bluetooth in Steam game mode and in the OS but it doesn’t do anything. I tried using the Xbox wireless adapter but I read I need drivers but no idea how to get them since when I run pacman it tells me it’s unable to lock database but I don’t even have that file on my OS.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
