@sirharrypierce

I have had the same problem and it's happened three times now, tends to happen after long sessions once I have multiple active regions active. Unlike this author, I am not running anno 1800 on a Mac, I'm running it on windows 11 (64-bit) have 16gn of ram and AMD Ryzen 7 4800h with Radeon graphics 2.90 GHz. The game and all DLC content purchased directly from within the Ubisoft Connect Desktop application (not 3rd party). My device should have no problem running the game yet I loose hours of gameplay when the last save and the auto saves leading up to the save are visible but not loadable.

And no... verifying files does absolutely nothing... I have tried it several times. The game has frozen several times as well.

I have played other games that are significantly more demanding with no issues, I don't have anything demanding running in the background.

I have no idea why this is happening.

Thanks for getting back to us @nightmare272

So we can advise further, can you let us know the following? >

  • Have purchased the game via the Ubisoft Store, Steam or Epic store?
  • Do you know if you also have cloud saves enabled in your game launcher? You can usually find this in your launchers settings or Properties menu within the launcher itself?
  • Are you using any mods with the game?
  • What version of Windows are you using?

@nightmare272 Hi there and thank you for the additional information 😊

Apart from running the game with admin rights, could you please try to also run Ubisoft Connect with admin rights and see whether that helps?

Please let us know after 🙂

Thanks for the reply @nightmare272

It sounds as though your save file may have become corrupted which is why the game is unable to locate or load it. This can sometimes happen if a game save was interrupted or the game crashed at any point.

As you are using Cloud saves, can you please see if your cloud save is located here >> C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\4553

Your local hard drive saves are also located here by default >> %userprofile%\Documents\Anno 1800\accounts

If you can find your cloud save, are you able to copy it to your local hard drive save location, to see if the game can then recognize it?

Unfortunately, if your save games still do not show in-game, it means they are corrupted and the Anno team have no way to restore/repair them.

Hey there @nightmare272 , thanks very much for letting us know that the files still will not load - my apologies for this. As Ubi-Milky mentioned, this means the files have corrupted, and we unfortunately don't have any means to recover them.

To minimise the chances of this happening again in the future, I'd recommend making sure to check all the steps in our troubleshooting guide. In particular from the guide, please make sure you are always running the game with administrator rights, you've verified the game files, you've got your Windows install fully updated, and you don't have any background programs which could interfere with the game (such as firewalls, system optimisers, modifications, or cheating engines).

Also recommended is the Windows File Scan, to check Windows itself for errors, using this method.

Please note that these steps will not recover the save files, but will help to make sure no further files become corrupted.

Let me know if I can clarify any of these steps!

Glad to hear it's fixed for you after reinstalling on the C Drive @nightmare272! Definitely let one of us know if there's anything else we can help with. 💙

Thanks for sharing this workaround @Heat1451 , appreciate it!

Just checking in to see if you also gave the other suggestions in this thread a try to see if any of those helped at all?
