Original Post — Direct link

Hello,
I hear my PC-Audio through a Focusrite Scarlett USB-Interface. Since a recent Update to Ubisoft Connect, whenever I open the app, the audio I hear through my headphone starts to crackle.
Everything I hear is being affected by this. Be it Spotify, Youtube or the audio from games. This is the case until I close Ubisoft connect when everything is completely fine again.
If I connect my headphones directly to my pc, and not through my interface, the problem doesn't occur.
I have already reinstalled my audio drivers, interface drivers, changed my audio settings, tried different USB-ports for my interface, restarted the pc and ubisoft connect multiple times but nothing helped.
I found a post on reddit from yesterday where somebody has the exact same problem with a different USB-Interface from another brand which leads me to believe that my specific interface is not the main problem but rather something with Ubisoft Connect has to be wrong as this doesn't happen with any other software and the problem is completely gone once I close Ubisoft Connect.

Thanks in advance for any help!

@ns-enibeti Hey there! Welcome to Discussions! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing some audio issues with the Ubisoft Connect application. Just to clarify a bit, does the audio crackle at all when there are no headphones plugged in? Or is this issue only confined to when headphones are plugged into that interface? I do recommend running through some basic PC troubleshooting as well, as these have been set up to help with various issues that can occur on the PC.

@ns-enibeti This is definitely pretty wild. I've not encountered this issue from other player reports (besides the Reddit article you shared). I appreciate all the details you added. Can you test out these steps for me and let me know if it decreases the crackling at all?

- Right-click on the speaker icon in the bottom right of your screen and select Playback Devices.
- In the next window, right-click on the device you are using and select Configure Speakers.
- Ensure the Stereo option is selected, then close this window.
- While the device is still highlighted, click on Properties.
- In the Advanced tab, set the default format to be 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).

@ns-enibeti Thank you for that information! Would you also be willing to try to fully uninstall and then reinstall Ubisoft Connect to test if that makes any difference?

Thanks for letting us know this. I see that Ubi-Knight replied to your support case. You may need to cover what's been discussed in this thread so far for the support portal team (although I know you sent the link to the forum post). Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause! 😧

@mrhans89 Hey there! If you are encountering the same issues and have exhausted all possible troubleshooting, would you be willing to create a support ticket with your DXDiag and MSInfo attached so we can take a closer look into what might be causing the problem?
