Hello everyone!

Our team were able to find an issue related to this in the past, and it was resolved. We have not been able to reproduce the issue since, so we may be able to fix this with some PC troubleshooting.

@frasoucos Thank you very much for your suggestions!

Can everyone please confirm if the steps above help?

Hello PCCrack, by all means you can ask for a refund if the provided troubleshooting does not fix this issue for you.

The troubleshooting given is what worked previously for players when the issue occurred in a previous update for Anno 1800.

If you would prefer to have a deeper investigation done where we can check your system files more thoroughly, please add them to our support site here where our technical team can take over and look at this for you in greater detail. You can also request a refund from the same website - https://support.ubisoft.com/Cases/New

Hey everyone,

If you are still experiencing issues with DirectX12 crashes, could you please make sure Windows has updated your DirectX12 API as sometimes Windows will not update your DirectX versions automatically.

To do this try go to -

Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates.

If the update is ready for your PC, you'll see a 'Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004' message appear under Optional Updates. You can then begin downloading by clicking 'Download and install now. You can check which version of DirectX you have by running a dxdiag as well.

Please also see frasoucos helpful post on how to do this here for an alternative method - https://forums.ubisoft.com/showthrea...1#post15240573

After doing so please make sure to verify Anno 1800s game files too, as this usually fixes any corrupted or missing files from the installation of the game - https://support.ubisoft.com/en-gb/Article/000060529

Hello Daimkrysset, I can see you were able to open a case for this issue over a year ago, but never submitted your msinfo files. If you want us to continue our investigation, you can reopen your case anytime by posting on it from the Support Website? - https://support.ubisoft.com/en-US/Cases

Some players had a similar issue but only with DX12 whereas you seem to be having this issue with both DX11 and DX12 which is unusual.

Hi everyone, thanks for commenting about this.

It seems we may have an issue since the update with running the game on DIrectX 12 for some players, but before I speculate on this, can you all please make sure you have updated to the latest version of DirectX12 first?

- Press the Windows Key and type DXDIAG, then click on the app's logo to run it
- On the first System Information tab, it should tell you at the bottom which version of Direct X you are currently using
- Next go to Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates
- Next, locate this folder and C:\Anno 1800\Support\DirectX\DXSETUP click on the app and run the DXDiag set up.

After updating your version of DirectX 12 and try launching the game, does it work without issue?

Next please try launching the game using DirectX11 also.
- Go to C:\Users\username\Documents\Anno 1800\config open the config.ini file in a notepad and find the part that says DeviceType
- Change the part that says DX12 to DX11 and save

Now try launching the game, does the game launch past the splash screen and run correctly?

Hey WonderToilet, im glad to hear it, I will merge this thread with our other DirectX12 thread as a few people are having the same issue. I'm glad to see this worked for you,

If you have a bug to report feel free to make a new thread in this player support forum and we will have a look at it for you, please try to provide screenshots or video where you can.

Thanks for letting me know Aerosphere24!

I've fed this back to the Anno team to see there is anything we can do to stop this happening to players in the future, or any communication we can put up to ask players to try updating Windows and DirectX manually after each update, thank you for letting us know you needed the 20H2 update. If anything changes or you start experiencing crashes again, please let me know back in this thread.

I will make a sticky post to so other players can find this troubleshooting more easily.
