Hey everyone – Chris King (Gameplay Design Director) and Darrin McPherson (Lead Gameplay Producer) here.  First off, thanks to everyone for your continued support and feedback regarding Anthem.  We hope you are enjoying the recent updates to the loot system. 

With our first batch of loot updates wrapped up, we thought it a good opportunity to dig into some details and talk about what we are working on next. 

First off, let’s walk through how inscriptions work.  Inscriptions are random modifiers that are applied to each loot item upon creation.  Here is an example of some inscriptions on an Avenging Herald –a Masterwork Heavy Pistol (and a really good one at that)!

Welcome back to another installment of community highlights! This week we have our first cosplay post along with some amazing javelin shots.

• The tethering timer for missions has been increased. Players should now have more time to catch up to their Squad before seeing a countdown timer.
• The Swarm Tyrant encounter in the Tyrant Mine Stronghold can no longer be reset by the entire Squad exiting to the main menu and rejoining the session in progress.
• Players are no longer able to reopen chests that had already been looted in Strongholds. 

In addition to the above updates we have deployed the following hot fixes:

• Items will no longer have inscriptions on them that are not appropriate for that specific item. NOTE: This only applies to items obtained after the patch. Items obtained prior to the patch will still have the same inscriptions they had before.
• Masterwork crafting costs have been reduced from 25 -> 15 Masterwork Embers. The amount of plants, metal and parts required for crafting a Masterwork item have also been reduced. 

MTashed walks you through triggering this important mission in Anthem™ and gives you some insight on how to complete it successfully.

After finishing “Meeting with Corvus,” you’ll need to speak with Tassyn, so make sure to do that to continue the story. This action will unlock Strongholds and, after that happens, Faye will request that you speak with her. We have deployed a fix that should address the issue some players were facing when trying to personalize their javelins. After personalizing in the Forge your settings should hold now. This fix also addresses the issue where some players were unable to craft the Dawn Shield during the crit path missions.

We have temporarily disabled the special ability on the component piece “Gunslinger's Mark” as the buff granted by the component would stack much higher than intended. The special ability on this component piece will be turned back on once a full fix can be implemented.

Whether you’re looking to freeze, electrocute, or set your opponents on fire in Anthem™, the Storm javelin will get the job done. It easily dominates the vertical space on the map and is an excellent choice for team play, especially given the ease of chaining combos with your teammates.

The Storm can remain in the air during combat, giving pilots the ability to easily see multiple enemies, where they’re spawning at, as well as raining down powerful elemental attacks from above. All javelins’ jets will eventually overheat, but the Storm’s do so at a much slower rate giving it far more air time while hovering.

• The final boss in the “Return to the Heart of Rage” Stronghold and crit path mission will now properly appear if a squad of Freelancers wipe before reaching it.
• HDR on consoles can now be properly turned on.
• Fixed a number of issues that were causing players to crash.

The best way to play Anthem is with a team, adventuring out into the world with friends and fellow Freelancers by your side. The Anthem Alliance System makes grouping up even better by giving you – and everyone you play with – an extra batch of in-game Coins for being a team player.

The Alliance System Rewards You for Gaining XP

When you complete an expedition (like a mission, contract, or Stronghold) you earn XP that is recorded in the Alliance System. As you continue to accrue XP, you’ll pass through 10 different Alliance XP tiers. At the end of every week, you have the potential to be rewarded with Coin based on how much XP has been added to your Alliance System pool. Coins can be used to get cosmetics, emotes, and rare resources.

For those of you who have been playing the Early Access version of the game, we wanted to let you know that a Day 1 Patch is on its way. The patch will deployed before worldwide launch.  On February 22, 2019, the game will include the following updates and our Live Service officially begins.

High level fixes

• Decreased loading times for older disk drives
• Fixed many infinite loading screens
• Fixed multiple challenges not tracking properly
• A number of issues have been fixed that were causing players to disconnect or crash
• Weapons and gear now have numbers present for modifiers

General Fixes and Improvements

• Loot Reveal and Expedition Summary now correctly play during the end of expedition screen.
• The gather party mechanic has been made more lenient in a number of situations

Javelin suits are the key to combat in this dangerous world, and it’s important to understand their strengths and how each one can be modified to best suit your playstyle. The first thing to understand is that you won’t have immediate access to every javelin.

 

Unlocking Javelins

 You’ll unlock your first javelin at level 2 and your remaining javelins in this order:
