I know you’re not as informated as Freeman which is based directly at the Stockholm studios, but if you know or you can share it with us I would like to ask you about something I think the Community is worried about, and it’s the Lunge Mine, does it activate against infantry? Or you can use it only against veichles (which is his functionality) ?

I would ask u/PartWelsh. I haven’t been participating in Playtests for the new content.

I'm holding you to that. Prepare to be mercilessly critiqued on your fort-building skills.

Ah, excellent. It will remind me of childhood. How fun. -.-

While unmet expectations can be frustrating, no expectations is equally as frustrating. The development team giving no information on upcoming content is also hurting their own production. Why bother to meet a deadline when there are no deadlines?

What is irking me in particular is the lack of urgency. There's a reason ComingSoon™ is a meme in this subreddit. It has become such a staple of this game that the Art Team literally put it into an official trailer.

But here's another idea: If the development team can't give out specifics on dates or content, the very least they can do is apologize for all of this. And I don't mean you or PartWelsh, the lead devs on the team. And not an "oops our bad" either. Because honestly them trying to skate by this like it's business as usual, like the whole game isn't riddled with problems (the latest of which they willingly created) is the most frustrating thing of all.

All that being said, ...

I also promised a pic of “Fort Braddock” (a fort built out of all the boxes of art books I have left). I’ll get that this week as well.

LOL I don't expect anyone to "cheer for me". This is a job.
In most jobs, no one is sitting there, cheering you for doing ... it (and in most jobs, folks don't get told by folks who've never done the job how to do it better, but here we are.)
There are folks that appreciate the post as I keep it updated with information and links throughout the week (as those details become available.) Because, at the core of it - it's a weekly calendar. So, yeah, it does say when things are happening, and collates that information in one place (via links under the dates and items).
Is it a blog? No, it never has been, though. So the expectation that this post would turn into something beyond what it's been for the last year - a week roadmap/calendar - and getting upset when it isn't... that's not on me.

And I have no expectations regarding comments on anything I post on reddit anymore. Regardless what the topic is or what my comment is about.

Anyhow, have a good...

Any info on that gamemode coming back or why it was removed in the first place? And look no animosity towards you honestly just a frustrated customer looking for answers after months of uncertainty of where this "live service" game is heading

Hey DB,
The removal of Frontlines from having a regular spot in the playlists was based on what players were playing more of (and ensuring that matchmaking would be successful within the playing population) - that's why we randomly bring out modes like Frontlines, Grind, Outpost, Fortress.

Not to deflect the conversation, but you can run Frontlines Community Games - it is missing quite a few features, bells, and whistles that RSP had, but it is still possible to have some great Frontlines matches.

I totally understand and appreciate your honest and candid answer. The frustration is unequally heaped on you and partwelsh and for that I am sorry. I just try to get across my feelings without seeming mad or angry, because that's not the goal. At the end of the day you're a human, and I'm not mad at you as a person just that a game I enjoy is headed a direction and we have no real guidance on why.

I never meant to offend or frustrate only express my opinion in a way that I felt without descending into useless insults.

Sorry

I absolutely understand where you're coming from, bud. I really do. And it is frustrating - I was a Battlefield player years before I started working at EA, so I'm a fan of the franchise.

We would probably be in a much safer state to talk about the future a little more freely had we not had such a rough summer with 4.0, missed expectations and such. I just don't want to get to a place where I make a statement, it gets locked as "gospel" and something happens where it is delayed or whatever. That's been one of the hardest things, honestly, and it's absolutely no fun for anyone.

Let's get this update out - and then let PartWelsh and I dive into next steps with 6.2, Community Games, balancing, etc. Please note: there may be some things we can discuss, and some we can't. But we will try to get some information to share. I won't even dare ask for your patience (or anyone's really), as it's well beyond that point.

So responding to those kinds of posts, it doesn't help your case. what is there to be gained? After not responding to so many reasonable questions, responding to that just makes you look petty and feels self serving.

I like you as a cm for clarity, but its stuff like this that adds fuel to the fire many feel.

GK5555 - You're absolutely right that I shouldn't be engaging in any conversations like that (and the ones you've sent too), so I won't be responding to any discussion, comments, insults, ongoing abuse regarding this topic. There we go.

And while I wish it was as simple as "not responding to so many reasonable questions" (I agree they are reasonable questions, but I'm not allowed to discuss quite a few of those things - and it's not that I CHOOSE to not discuss things. I literally have not been given information to share or am unable to share any info I have at this time as it could change.) it's actually not.

And while I 100% agree with and understand your frustration, imagine being stuck in the middle - trying to get information for an angry community - and you're unable to share anything yet. So I already know how every one of these Monday posts will go. (And if I had bet on it, I'd be quite a rich man.)

So... what's the point of you existing as a CM if you literally can't do the job you're specifically prescribed to do...? We've been waiting for answers for these questions for weeks and you've still got no answers for a single one of them. Do you think that's acceptable?

Why even keep you as a CM if you're just going delay and stutter week to week, provide no information, and only frustrate people further? You're quite literally the most useless CM I've ever seen interact with their Reddit community.

You provide no valuable insight, no communication between the developers, and know absolutely nothing on pertinent topics. Which begs the question why DICE is even paying you.

Should clarify, I mean this less as a personal criticism and more about your assigned role by the office. How do they expect a CM to adequately communicate with the community without information to present? I empathise you're doing your best despite DICE's failings right now.

Thanks for the feedback! Have a great day.

I haven’t heard anything, but I’ve just sent a message via Slack regarding this. When We get any to share, we will.

Is there really nothing you can share though? My comment at the top of this thread is all about stuff that you said you would follow up on, in comments on this sub. It's been weeks and for some of these things months.

Is nothing really all you can share?

Don't forget silence is an answer, and it is never a good one.

If I had been given information that I’m able to share, I would.

I'm pretty sure the total silence on so many issues and complaints is doing alot more to frustrate the community.

I have no doubt, and I’m sorry for that. Being unable to talk about some things is equally as frustrating. The focus is getting 6.0 out, and getting prepared for 6.2. Between these two updates, I hope that PartWelsh and I will more details on team balance, Community Games next steps, etc.

I understand the hesitation to provide hard target dates and concrete information, but the longer that continues, the less inclined the community is to continue playing the game.

Building some goodwill could be as simple as providing one concrete date for any of the littany of things currently in production.

Make a promise and deliver on it, and it will restore a bit of faith.

As much as we’d like to, we are unable to give a concrete date on anything in production until the update for it is locked. Too many things can happen and unmet expectations would further frustrate the community.

There’s 82 comments on this thread at this moment. Quite a few aren’t comments aren’t going to replied to as they aren’t initiating a conversation or asking a question. Those that can be answered with info that is available will be.

They are looking at all weapons and determining on a case by case basis.
