Thanks for the reply! Yeah, Westie explained this pretty well in his RSP video. It sounds pretty awesome! More than I expected, and even more custom options than BF4 if you are going to be able to limit which weapons can be used (looking at you, AP mines).

The only question I have now: can users "favorite" your server like in BF4? I would understand if this won't be a launch feature, but I feel like this is pretty important for establishing communities of like-minded players. A server could be on a user's favorites list and just not show up if nobody is on. Thoughts?

That's interesting. Will add to my list!

Wait, so there is kick function but no blacklist function? Quite crucial for Asian servers to get rid of hackers.

We will be adding more features, including ban lists, VIP lists, moderator lists, etc.

PSA: Summer ends at the end of september.

Extremely happy about it!

  • Would you consider giving us the ability to enable/disable some customizations, or even only one set of customizations per team?
  • Any news about hardcore mode?

... I'm pretty sure a lot of people would love that.

You can design your own HC mode. Why leave it up to us to decide what we think is HC? Friendly Fire on? Go for it. No minimap? DONE. No compass? Get some breadcrumbs and leave a trail - do it. You can make it as HC as you want with the features we'll be giving you right out of the box.

You're gonna stop playing before we get to the next theater of war in Chapter 5? Bold choice. (It's gonna be epic.)

Oh! I thought that some of the stuff listed was going to be in the paid versions, well f**k me that's great to hear. I'm not even sure what you could offer for the premium one if the base is this extensive in features.

Oh - there's some things.

(I've had some insight into potential later phases. Let me just say, if we can pull it off - whoa.)

And where is Hardcore mode in BFV???

With Private Games, you can set your own version of Hardcore. The harder, the more core you want it - it's up to you. Some folks don't like Friendly Fire, but want all the other HC stuff. Some folks want a full HC experience.

This is awesome news! My gaming community will have a lot of fun with this.

Quick question: won't it be a problem that server owners could kick people just because they get killed too often? Is there something to prevent that or do you just need to suck it up? 😜

You can report the server - it's in the list of options that will be coming in the first phase.

Despite every other game in the franchise having it? Classic.

Would you want the RSP from BF1 - and have to pay for it? As I recall, the community got pretty upset with the lack of features and tools in RSP, and the lack of scaling server size/cost.

This offers many more features at its launch and is free. And we'll be adding more features, more tools - and we're creating a whole management portal so you don't have to do it in-game.

Wait I'm confused. What server features are going to cost money?

I'm not sure what's confusing. The post lists out all the features that will be in the first phase - the base offering - which is free. We'll be gathering feedback from the community over the summer for additional phases - we haven't even discussed publicly what the next phase of features will be, so any Premium tier is a bit of a ways off.

So does this mean that you will be able to do cross platform?

No, where would you get that from in the post? It doesn't have anything to do with cross-platform.

I’d love to be exited, but it took 6 months to just get a confirmation that its coming. Now, all we know is that it will be released “after summer” and that “base tools” will be free. Vague marketing isn’t good, i have no expectations.

Also more maps please.

Well, according to the post, you know that the base offering (which is all the features that are listed as bullets) will be available to all Battlefield V players after summer and will be free. It also states we'll be giving regular updates over the summer with more information and will be gathering feedback from the community on what other features to add to the service.

And a new map is coming this month. We've stated that on March 27th.

I dont think I've seen the fire axe from week 2 though.

I believe melee weapons are the only ones not available. I think one of the devs mentioned it will be a featured item in the Armory at a later date.

Because it wasn't ready.

Are there any chances we can get some sort of "hub" for presets? This way you can look for presets, share them and all that fun stuff that would make it easier for people to start their free server and maybe end up getting the paid tier :)

That's a very popular request. Added to my list!

We’ll be following up with further updates, such as creating and managing lists of moderators, VIPs, and banned players, and more.

This sounds like BF4's servers, but the server goes away if nobody is in it. I'm curious how this will work. Does the server really go away? Do you create a server profile with a list of admins, VIPs, and banned list that stays saved and is activated every time you spin it up? It also sounds like the server "owner" must be online to start the server initially. Would it be possible to have admins or people that are "subscribed" to your server spin it up? Can people favorite your server? /u/Braddock512

If no one is on it - the server goes away.
However, you'll be able to save configurations - maps, modes, rotations, special gameplay customizations, and (when released) I'm assuming VIPS, mods, ban lists - to a file on your profile that you can then "quick apply" when you start up a new server.

Either way I'm so glad that Dice has finally realised that RSP, even if a large number of players don't realise it's value, realise that it is the sole reason games like BF3 and 4 still to this day have decent player numbers.

You will NOT buy it. ;)
It'll be free, as the post says.
