This is much appreciated. It would be nice to get more honest communication from the comms team though. Hope all is well👍🏾

While we’re sharing information I’d like to reference this post which may give some extra insight into the community management side of things. Not saying your suggestion isn’t valid, but I do think what’s said here is useful information as well.

Hijacking top comment, sorry about that.

Hello there,

I’ve seen a lot of threads like this recently and as time goes on, they get more and more aggressive, and that anger gets directed towards Freeman and the rest of the Community team on a personal level. I don’t think that’s fair, but instead of saying “don’t do this”, I wanted to explain a little of my thought process.

Working in Community is probably one of the most misunderstood roles within the industry. While on the surface it’s easy to think that it’s one of the easiest jobs around, from experience I can say it’s not.

You see, the problem with working in Community is that you’re always stuck in the middle. You have everyone looking to you for the answers, and that includes both internal teams and of course your player base. When things go well you end up in a great situation (which is sadly all too rare) where everyone’s wants and needs align.

In times like this, working in ...

I’d like to just take a moment to address this a little bit. I absolutely think that the pandemic is a valid reason for delays, though I also strongly believe there are other factors in play as to why a lot of games nowadays get delayed. This is a much bigger discussion, so I’ll just speak about the “pandemic excuse”.

Many people were uprooted from their daily routines during the pandemic, and forced to adjust to a new working environment during the development cycle of their respective projects. While some people found this transition fairly natural, many struggled with it due to the conditions of working from home being quite different from that of an office space. Not only does this affect a person’s ability to separate work and home life, but it’s also very challenging to go from seeing your friends/colleagues every day in the office to being completely isolated from them every day. The mental impact of the adjustment to working from home is often under appreciated.

Don't think it was great in non-modern times to be fair.

I felt bad for him tbh. He had a lot of passion for the franchise and it was very evident. The time and effort he would take to create those Bfv dev update posts on reddit formatted very nicely etc. was always welcomed.

Shame that the devs didn't give the guy much to work with and he inevitably became the face of bad news or worse, no news.

Jeff and passion go hand in hand, always had what's best for players front and centre, and I suspect he always will.

A badass for sure.

Do we get to play as these major characters (besides Irish)?

All the Specialists are major characters, have backstories that detail how they got to where they are in 2042 etc. The Exodus gave a glimpse into Irish, but don't underestimate Boris, Rao, Sundance and the rest of the team.

on a side note, dont you think dice should at least communicate with us, why they dont communicate with us?

Marketing in general is one hell of a machine that balances communication, memes, engagement, information, and overall professionalism. It's all magic to me and I personally have very little insight into how any of it works or how best to balance it. It seems that the community are not happy, and if this is the case for the majority then I agree that something needs to be done to mitigate that issue.

This is a bit of a non-answer from my side, sorry about that! But as I say, I'm not a marketing guy so all I can suggest is to keep making your voice heard and try to be constructive (and add specifics) when giving feedback. Things move very slowly in big companies, which can seem like nothing is being done at times but don't let that discourage you. It may seem easy for me to say this, but making games of this scale is a very complex beast and I believe that impacts communication as well. It doesn't mean we can't do better in that regard, though.

Hey all if you are in game and suspect a user of cheating then please report them by following the steps in this link: https://help.ea.com/en-tr/help/faq/report-players-for-cheating-abuse-and-harassment/

We take all reports very seriously and will fully investigate.

Keep in mind that us developers are also fans of the series and have no say/control over what media is put out on the official channels. I’m confident the marketing team is working to put some more gameplay out there ASAP, however do keep in mind that this is a personal Twitter account and Frederik is talking about excitement at his job.

It’s tough for developers at any company to toe the line between being transparent, avoiding frustration for players, and not breaking NDA’s on social media. So try to take such tweets as simple anecdotes or “behind the scenes” if you will.

These tweets often get put under a microscope, and I understand why - the community would like to see more from the game. However, I was at the playtest yesterday also, and I can see exactly where he’s coming from. I’m nervous but excited, so I hope you guys like what’s been done and fingers crossed for some more info shortly 🙂

Exodus wasn't about Hazard Zone specifically. It does help set the scene for the World of 2042 and the conflicts within, as well as introduce you to some of the major characters at play.

As long as I can cover these lackluster specialists character faces, then I'll be happy.

And also, as long as I can make myself just look like a normal, battle-hardened SOLDIER (like in previous BF games) as opposed to some kind of futuristic action hero, then I'll also be happy.

Just those two things.

All of our Specialists have a military background and do look militaristic.

Can someone elaborate.

Was it Oz who issued Irish to get that suitcase from the flooded city?

And was it also Oz who then betrayed Irish? By attacking the exodus to retrieve the suitcase? Like Pac warned Irish about that?

So Irish and exodus was meant to be disposed after rhey got the suitcase?

The flooded city is London (UK is in a bit of a mess in 2042). 2:43 in the video you can see Irish returning to the Exodus with Tower Bridge in the background.
