I’m asking because I would like to upgrade one of them and enjoy the new meta, but in my case it means spending 170k gold which is a lot for me, I wouldn’t want to spend that on a card that is going to get nerf one week later...
My guess at the moment is there will be some balance changes. But to which cards, I do not know. Our balance guy is looking at the data and will make the changes. Wish I could be more helpful for you. 🙄
I think I’ll chime in here to explain a little.
As stated in the video, the development of both clash of clans and clash royale will not be affected by this.
Each “cell” inside Supercell is a small team of people that works as its own little business (To help make sense of this).
You also heard that two of these new games are being made in Supercell Shanghai.
So from us, don’t worry! The Royale team are still here to make features and improvements to the game.

i can totally empathise with you on this update not being for the maxed players. it's super refreshing to hear that you know why we did the update even though it isn't what you wanted.
although there are a lot of reasons why this update is great for the health of clash royale overall, why should you care as a max player? where's the maxed player content? i totally get that and understand.
these kind of 'meta' updates aren't really the most exciting or fun for a lot of reasons, but they do ensure that the overwhelming majority of players are given decent quality of life and progression upgrades.
with magic items, we want to lay the groundwork for progression that extends the life of clash royale considerably. we want the game to still be played in 10 years and the previous grind grind grind, play 1 deck only royale was good a few years ago but we want to evolve and keep the game playable & competitive for as long as p...
