but the security team prefers to have it be non-decrypt in order to prevent people from circumventing their bans by knowing what they were banned for.

This information was published on the official Garena version account on Facebook in 2019:

NEW ANTI-CHEAT SYSTEM

LIST OF THINGS THAT WILL GET YOU BANNED

  1. Usage any 3rd party apps such as crosshair apps or apps that enables docking of keyboard and mouse.
  2. Usage of unsafe emulators.
  3. Usage of VPN.
  4. Usage of hacks, game scripts and any tools that modify game files.

here are the reasons that you can tell the affected people why they don't do it that way?

this is not a secret, many of us know this, for example if a player installs hack applications and it turns out that after using them he receives a ban, it does not take a genius to know the reason for the ban, in ...

We do have a security and enforcement article that is similar to that but purposefully more of a "catch all". Also, that VPN info is old and not accurate: https://support.activision.com/cod-mobile/articles/call-of-duty-mobile-security-enforcement-policy...

I'm really sorry to say this, but they probably won't unban you. I'm convinced the devs don't give a shit about us at this point, there are so many 10 year bans around and devs refuse to check if the ban was right. its getting out of control, I'm seeing so many good players getting banned

Heya, we check all of the time actually, but OP could you share your UID or username (case sensitive) so we can forward this over to the security team to have them double check?

Also, sorry to say but those long-term bans like you are seeing cannot result from any kind of mass report unless the team found something legitimate upon checking the report. Anyways, happy to have them check! Just let us know.

Hey u/QUEENxVENOM, thank you for this report and for the UID! We've sent this players information to the security team so proper enforcement can be taken. Thanks!

hey hey so what did I do exactly?
i've made a new a/c and got banned in 3 days
can i not play on this ipad anymore?

Heya, no idea without checking the account or accounts. Would you mind sharing a UID or username (case sensitive) so we can take a look? Most likely we can't share back any details though and can just confirm that it looks legitimate. However, if we see anything suspicious or unusual there we can push that up for further review.

Thank you for the clarity. Despite the scepticism of many, the vast majority understand that false bans are few and far between, and for the severity of a 10 year ban (in that it may as well be terminated, given the time scale) it's always been highly unlikely to be undertaken frivolously.

This also being backed up by the number of people readily admitting to using vpns and/or illegitimate emulators. Clearly very few hackers will own up to it and admit they were caught with their pants round their ankles, so they tend to try and instigate uproar from the easily led.

Additionally, can you clarify the position with some of the kids we've seen posting here - literally reporting people for using mechanics in-built in the game. What is the comeback for these kind of false reports, given that they're trying to screw people over, who are playing the game fully legitimately, but in a way that these individuals dislike. It's becoming more prevalent, and I'm curious what meas...

Heya, thanks for the long and kind reply. Just some quick responses to that, but first off VPNs will not get you banned unless it is being used in conjunction with something else. For instance, if you are using a VPN and some third party software that could trigger a ban, but it wouldn't be because of the VPN itself.

The in-game mechanics aren't at fault here, so even if people are abusing them to try to get someone banned via mass reports it isn't something we would punish them for. However, the way we look at that is seeing how someone might be trying to abuse that functionality and then adjusting or changing that functionality to prevent further abuse. That's currently being done in relation to some of these examples.

What is the best way to get unbanned if it is false? It’s a fear I have…

Just reach out to us on a community update or on your own thread (our PMs are flooded so don't try that route) and we can forward it to our security team to double check. All we can personally do ourselves is just see if it is true or not, but the security team can look into it further and essentially make a second judgement.

How do we even officially appeal a ban? It says nowhere that I can see in the game on where to go to do it.

The support website from what I recall does not have a ban appeal option, it's just for technical and account/billing issues.

Does posting on this subreddit a ban appeal actually get looked at by you guys on a daily basis? Is this the official way to do it?

There isn't an official way unless you consider that going through in-game support. However, our support agents, similar to our team here, can only verify that a ban is legitimate or not without any additional details shareable. We do often check threads here though and forward them to the security team to check as long as those basics are there with UID or username (or something identifiable that allows us to lookup your account).

Why not just state the reason why they were banned in the first place? It would save a lot of hassle for both sides instead of having to manually review the ban appeals even if they are well deserved. It's like being charged guilty to a crime without even being told what the crime even is. A lot of people would just accept the bans if the reason was just stated outright instead of having to assume that they may not done anything wrong and needlessly wasting everyone's time trying to appeal in the first place.

We would also prefer there at least be given some basic reason given, like "glitching" or "third party software", but the security team prefers to have it be non-decrypt in order to prevent people from circumventing their bans by knowing what they were banned for.

Also, in our PC/Console titles of COD we do often have small reasons like that but ban appeals are still very frequent, so not too sure if it would greatly reduce those requests. Regardless, our community team agrees and we hope we can push them to change that in the future.

I love the paradox of it.

If WE get banned we deserved it.

But if Ferg gets a 10year ban, they admit there's an error and move heaven and earth to fix that.

Hello! It's a bit complicated, but in Ferg's case and in some regular players we've reversed bans after investigating them and finding them to be false. In the screenshot above we checked specifically to see if that was the case for that player too, but it was not. We are always happy to check and verify a ban is legitimate though. However, after doing these checks for 2 years now the odds are that it will be legitimate.

This is some next level thinking and we would absolutely love to do something like this for April Fools haha. If only it was so easy to make and implement hilariously OP but fake scorestreaks and operator skills just for the sake of a short one-off joke mode. Someday...

As amusing as that is, how often has that happened to you? That's a very odd bug to say the least haha. If you've had it happen multiple times have you seen any common occurrences, like it is always when you are actually in first?

Dude, if this reporting stuff is true, I'm also scared as f**k to even tryhard now. Got 20+ kills in a game of snd and two people were accusing me, before i would've been pround, but now I'm scared shitless of even one possible report

It shouldn't really matter if people are reporting you unless there is something for our teams to find once they check those reports. In this instance (the OP), we checked the account and confirmed it was not anything automatic and must have been done by manual review. Sorry OP, but it looks very legitimate on our end. We can't share the specifics of the ban and why it happened, but did try to double check on your behalf just in case and unfortunately we don't see any reason to doubt the ban.

Can't think of any requests at the moment, so just out of curiosity is there any statistics on which featured modes were the most popular within the last year? I'm not sure if that's something that's already been done, but if not I think that would be interesting to see :)

Hey, we actually did a bunch of statistics back during our 2nd Anniversary but it didn't include modes on purpose. We originally wanted to do modes too, but they weren't interesting enough as a single statistic (like each one in the 2nd anniversary example) unless we did it as a whole separate image dedicated to the top modes.

As you might expect, depending on how you filtered it, the top MP modes were mostly TDM, S&D, and Kill Confirmed. However, there were a lot of ways to filter that based on Ranked, Limited Time Modes, Seasons, the number of times those modes have been available, and MP or BR.
