Regarding the issue at hand, could you try to increase thrall decay time back to 14 days and see if the problem still happens? There could be an issue in that setting if our hunch is correct.

The only parameters we can think of besides FF damage multiplier is Enabling/Disabling PVP (which would disable FF completely).

Have you left the karma value to zero, or have you put something there?
I have no idea how the Karma thing works, but if you look at my screenshots you’ll see that I have the value 60.

The Night of Lost Souls announcement on April 1st was an April Fools joke. I was the one who wrote the post, and while I did have a lot of fun while I was making it, it was never meant to be taken seriously and it would never make it into the game.
Fun fact: If you take the first letter in every paragraph and put them together it spells out “APRIL FOOLS”.

Have you tried validating your installation in Steam? Sometimes the installation might be missing a few files and that usually resolves it.
Do you also have an Oculus Rift plugged in, by any chance? It’s known to cause some issues sometimes.
