Steam were supposed to have fixed this months ago, I'm surprised you are still seeing it.

Then the problem was due to the DLC's price of $0, which the Steam store couldn't handle. Folks worked around that by waiting until they ordered any other priced item (Paradox or not) from Steam, and adding that free DLC into the order.

Does that work for you?

From that error log, you either have a bad installation or are using mods. If this happens with ALL mods disabled, Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders - In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

THEN expand your Windows paging file maximum size to 32gb

You have a memory fault on your machine, very likely hardware I'm afraid!
Memory: 16384MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 8122MB RAM
Half your memory is unavailable in Windows.

Until you can get that fixed:
- expand your Windows paging file maximum size to 32gb

Interesting; certainly our older games used to specifically require proprietary drivers on Linux. I'm a little surprised we don't still say that with our latest games.

While my Linux knowledge is pretty rusty, my impression was even with them installed, Mesa was still used. But I could well be wrong or out of date.

I cannot, I am sorry, they will simply not spend time diagnosing issues on an supported distro. I have no direct channel to them anyway, I'd normally point you to the Bug Reports forum. We can only hope you see something revealing in those dumps, and/or any Linux logs you might have there.

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

Now test with a new campaign when ALL Mods disabled.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

Ah, that is usually an antivirus app getting in the way. What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

ck3.exe (in the Steam CK3-binaries folder)
dowser.exe (in the Steam CK3-launcher folder)
C:/users/{UserName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2024..1/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users/{UserName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that doesn't help, also set each of those .exe files (EXCEPT ck3.exe !) to run as the Windows Admin user.

Then the game should run from Steam/our launcher, and enable all the DLCs.

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or better.

But we do recommend, if not require, the latest proprietary AMD drivers - can you try those?

Just to be clear - you DO see "1 of 3 editions" or something similar there? If so is there one which lists all the DLCs under "Add-ons included" ?

If not the issue is in your Xbox account in some way.

If it does, yes the issue is likely in your machine - can you do a test install on any other computer you might have access to?

FYI we in tech support cannot read crash dumps, only the devs over in Bug Reports can. But as you are not on a supported distro, we can't have you post them there I'm afraid.

Assuming you are on the latest Mesa and AMD proprietary drivers, I don't have a lot to suggest really.

Has this always been the case, or it was okay up to some point?

Does it matter whether you are in fullScreen, borderless or windowed display modes?

Are there any mods involved?

JRGPayne said: Is this due to Paradox Launcher V2 being version 2024.1?
No, because the launcher on the MS platform comes with the game - that is what the -SE means. It does not self-update like it does with the Steam games, only when there is a game patch.

The DLC tab is not shown when the launcher detects there are none. Why that would be in your case I do not know!

In the Xbox app click on Library then this game. Does it say "1 of 3" editions or anything like that? If so click on that , if there is a version of the game shown... Read more

Probably you submitted by direct email; those tickets do get closed automatically as we only accept them from logged-in Paradox accounts, to ensure we are only helping genuine Paradox customers. You would have got an automated email explaining that.

As to your won't-start issue, it is likely unrelated to your slow play in a campaign with a huge empire or large wars - that's pretty normal actually.

Crashes after a set period regardless of game situation are likely to be overheating or a memory leak. And will 64gb of memory I'm pretty sure it is not the latter.

If you re-load the same save immediately after the crash can you play for another 30-60 minutes, or it crashes sooner - or even won't load at all?

How about if you start a new test campaign at that point, what happens?

You mean those blank ones down the lower right?

Are there any mods in use?

If you start a new test campaign do you still see that?

The contents of the whole Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folder can be moved to D: but so far as I know, not just the mods. You might ask in the User Mods forum though.

That other poster does not appear to have any problem at all, in fact.

Have they ever worked in this installation of this game? Or they've always been like this?

Either way, try a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

Good luck!
