nobody get me wrong i love this game.

As a developer on the title I can promise you this is NOT what we're doing. There's nothing better as a strategy than having as many people playing and enjoying your game, and that's absolutely what we're trying to do right now!

As someone who works in development, I really wish by now studios releasing popular games would stop giving the excuse, “We didn’t expect so many of you to play!” or “Wow we didn’t expect this surge!” Yes, yes you did, marketing and product have been providing you with analytics for months.

Just give us realistic expectations for when the servers will actually perform as intended or delay the game until your backend can handle the surge. It tarnishes launch day excitement so much and I’d much rather pay £20/$20 or whatever it is to support the devs and help them bolster their architecture than get a free game riddled with server issues. We've run scale tests of hundreds of thousands of users to try and plan for this, and done everything we possibly can to simulate our launch day and give ourselves confidence in launch.

Unfortunately nothing can ultimately prepare you for real users all over the world all installing and launching the game at the same time- this is why you see even the largest companies struggling at launch. We're a relatively small indie studio compared to EA, Blizzard etc. and we're doing everything we can at this point!

Nope! It can start with anywhere above 40 but it looks like sometimes matchmaking can get confused if other matchmade players quit. We're looking into it!

Hey all!
We're working overtime to address these issues- we blew through our highest predictions in the first few hours of being live and are in uncharted territory as a studio now. We appreciate the frustration here as we've been hyping launch up, but hopefully things should be back to normal pretty soon.

Regarding lag input, make sure your TV is set to 'game mode'! We're also looking into this as a team right now as it's worse than expected- some last minute performance fixes haven't had the effect we hoped they'd have.

It's tough, I love reddit but people really don't hold back on here, so you've got to develop a thick skin pretty quickly. It's also tough to read feedback that you already know to be true but had to cut due to time constraints!

Can confirm we're definitely looking to bring cross play to platforms but it's a pretty complex chunk of work. Having players join games together etc. is actually not too hard, but it's all the other stuff that comes with it; inviting cross platform, reporting cross platform, etc. That's where all the work is so we can't give a time frame at this point.

I think possibly, yeah! We just have to be careful because we don't want large groups pubstoming too hard or being able to grief other players. Plus for every play we add the complexity of the feature grows, so we have to balance this with the urgency of other features.

Yes! We talked about this a lot to try and imitate a more 'gameshow' camera angle. Would love to get it back in at some point.

I know people have asked about making community “workshop maps”. Its clear the team takes great care in creating your levels and making an editor might be a large amount of work. Has there been any discussion of workshop support?

Just playing new workshop levels 1v1 or 2v2 against my friends would be extremely fun!

We're discussing it a bit but it's a huge undertaking- we just use Unity to build our levels so it's not like there's a tool we can just sent to players unfortunately. There are also lots of complexities around things like curating that content, figuring out how to surface the best stuff, etc so we'll likely be working on it for a while (if we choose to start it) it's a really exciting idea though and I'd love to do it one day.
