The message wasn't the expensive part. It was the widgets themselves that were expensive. We've been slowly optimizing our UI (also unfortunately de-optimizing other parts of it, which is going to be a focus in the coming weeks). As a result the killfeed isn't as big a concern as it used to be, so we just need to carve out some space in our list of priorities for it. :)

For those curious, there was a section in the v8.11 Patch Notes that mentioned this change. But it ended up being put in the v8.20 update instead.

  • Adjusted lighting in Battle Royale.

    • Increased lighting contrast in areas with shadows.
    • Increased vibrancy in colors.

K. Gonna have a chat. The mobile version doesn't have multiple lines because it negatively affects performance. We're looking into ways to give more options to optionally add more lines in the future for people with more powerful devices or people willing to take the performance hit, but other things are higher priority atm. :/

But I hope we can finally get it, or be able to turn it on/off.

Hola. Actually have an updoot on this. Most of the performance issues with the widget were worked out over a bunch of changes over time. Making the killfeed optionally support more lines is something that's on the todo list now, but eta is dependent on how priorities shake out. I can't say anything other than soonish. :/

Platform: PS4. I found another player on reddit that has the same experience and we found the thing in common we had was that we swap R1/R2 and L1/L2. I haven't seen the bug posted anywhere else and I'm assuming it has to be something with that. Last weeks cannon challenge really made it difficult and annoying.

Hmmm, you're right that I'm not seeing others reporting this. However, the additional details about R1/R2+L1/L2 you mentioned are very helpful. Our QA team is looking into the issue.
