Thanks for the report. We're investigating some reports of Voice Chat cutting out for some players, especially when playing with cross-platform players.

Comment

It predominantly impacts iPhone 8. We are trying to identify the root cause so we can fix it.

We've since fixed the mouse sensitivity issue and are aware of PS4 players being unable to select emotes when using a mouse. We're continuing to work towards a fix on that issue.

Thanks for the post! We've got a fix being worked on for this issue.

It looks like this match happened last night, and we just pushed a major Xbox performance patch this morning with 8.11 that should help a lot.

Can you do me a favor and test a few matches today and then let me know if you're still seeing issues?

Comment

This is a visual-only issue that will be addressed in the next build.

it's... complicated.

We are still trying to identify root cause of iOS voice instability. Looks like a memory overwrite bug which means the code crashes in places unrelated to the bug, making this very hard to track down :-/

We have increased the size of the team looking into both this and iPhone 8 GPU hangs.

Both are “all hands on deck” type of issues internally.

Hey folks,

We noticed that Team Rumble was replaced by Disco Domination. This was unintentional and we're going to be turning Team Rumble back on.

Drop into the action!

Yep, sorry for the oversight everyone. At least it was a short-lived mistake :)

During this time we'll be updating some of our Social Services. You may notice some irregularity with your friend's list & party options until these updates have finished.

Ahoy, Mateys! The v8.11 update is setting sail tomorrow, March 20 at 5 AM ET(0900 UTC).

Well, what are your thoughts on this issue?

Similar to what I said when we announced it. I generally think mobile players are a lot better than most people think they are (including mobile players themselves). We're watching it and if we see the quality of the matches degrading we'll make changes, but in the meantime we feel this is at least a change worth trying that could result in a better experience for both communities. :)

Honest question for those who frequent this forum daily:

I remember an Epic employee frequenting this sub on a very regular basis yet, when they merged lobbies I haven’t seen a single comment from them.

Has this employee made any comments that I have not seen?

/u/FreightTrainUSA is here every day. I mostly post on patch days when I'm tracking issues, but I lurk on my non-epic associated account.

Isn’t the question so vague that it’s useless? Are we meant to be saying we’re unsatisfied with the lag, game mode, that we died fast, that we don’t like the meta, or whatever else?

Good question. This particular question is a purposely broad heartbeat question to try to gauge high level satisfaction. We can also use the tool to ask more specific questions.

The answers to all of the questions can be paired to other data to add more context.

We certainly don't want it to be annoying! Our current design is based on sampling and includes a cool down period between when a player can receive another survey to avoid this.

That is our new in game survey tool that was added in 8.10!

We are still experimenting with it, but are excited to have this in game. Looking forward to being able to see even more feedback from y'all!

Hey there,

We wanted to drop in and give a status update on stability issues we’ve been seeing on mobile. Since the launch of Season 8, we’ve noticed a number of quality-of-life issues that we should have communicated better and earlier.

Our previous efforts towards mobile stability tended to focus on top crashes and issues found after each release across both iOS and Android. Focusing on platform-wide issues, however, meant we missed what we now discovered to be a frequently occurring GPU hang specific to iPhone 8. We’ve corrected this hole in our process and will have better oversight on individual devices moving forward. For those of you experiencing the GPU hang, we’ve been able to reproduce the issue and are actively working towards a fix.

We’ve also noticed new voice chat issues and more frequent network disconnects on mobile since the launch of Season 8. Over the course of the next couple of weeks, various items/features may be briefly taken offline w...

Long story short - we wanted to test a theory about a frequent crash (GPU hang so we don’t get good debug information) that we thought was loosely correlated with the Baller. It still happens without the Baller though :-/
