In Patch 29.6, Buddies are returning to Battlegrounds including their debut in Battlegrounds Duos!

What’s a Buddy?

Buddies are powerful minions assigned to each Hero. Every Buddy is unique to a particular Hero Power and doesn’t appear in the general minion pool. Throughout the match, you can get copies of your Buddy to add to your Warband and help you win the fight.

Making Friends is Easy

Just like last time Buddies were around, each hero will have a Buddy Button that you can press to get their Buddy. The Buddy Button has an initial cost based on the Tavern Tier of your Buddy, which the...

Since last month’s update, we’ve actioned nearly 642,000 additional accounts for botting. That is in addition to the bans we levied against players using cheating software to play illegal cards in Twist mode early in this season. We’ll continue regularly punishing these bad actors to make our Tavern a better place for all our real players.

This is on the known issues list, but we don’t have a timetable on its fix, sorry.

Patch 29.4.3 is a server-side hotfix patch rolling out now with the following updates and bug fixes.

Arena Updates

The draft card pool has been adjusted, with a handful of card swaps in and out of the card pool for each class and Neutral. Additionally, appearance rates of particular higher-impact cards have been decreased in Shaman, Demon Hunter, and Death Knight and increased in Paladin, Priest, and Warrior.

Bug Fixes and Game Improvements

  • [General] Fixed a bug in the new player experience where some players were unable to skip the Apprentice Track if they hadn’t yet finished the Tavern Guide (players will need to restart their client after skipping for this fix to take effect).

  • [Hearthstone] If Splendiferous Whizbang is Golden, it will now give Golden Hero Portraits and Hero Powers. (Non-Golden Whizbang will still give Golden Hero Portraits and Hero Powers if you have that hero Golden.)

For example, there are four different Finley legendary cards in constructed, but from the wording in the article it appears only the League of Explorers version unlocks Finley as a hero in this twist season... but Finley's portrait in Twist appears to be art from a single player adventure store bundle and not the League of Explorers Finley card? Isn't that confusing?

N'Zoth is even worse! It's using the art from Madness at the Darkmoon Faire that's evocative of the Darkmoon Faire Nzoth card, but requires the Whispers of the Old Gods card. Same with Dr. Boom - using the art from the Hero card from Boom Labs, but seems to require the GvG legendary to unlock. Edit: Brann is using Uldum art, but ...

Selecting a locked hero shows a Craft button to easily craft the required card.

Twist returns soon for a massive new season: Whizbang’s Heroes! Jump right into the fun with one of 19 new Heroes, each with a pre-made deck and a unique Hero Power and Passive effect. It all starts when the next season begins on June 1!

What Makes a Hero?

In Whizbang’s Heroes, simply pick your Hero and play! Each Hero has three main characteristics: a pre-built deck, a unique Hero Power, and a corresponding Passive effect. Heroes can also have different life totals. The pre-built Hero decks don’t have to follow the normal deck construction rules of Hearthstone: some decks are different sizes, most decks feature a mix of cards across different classes, and many decks have no duplicates, for more varied play. Each Hero’s Hero Power and Passive effect are designed to match that character’s flavor and deck mechanics. Our goal is for each Hero to feel like a new class.

Patch 29.4.2, launching today, brings the following balance changes, Weekly Quest updates, and more!

Weekly Quest Updates

Before the Weekly Quests changed in Patch 29.2, we didn’t adequately communicate the changes that were coming, or our reasoning for them. That’s something we’ll keep improving on.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been listening to your experiences and looking at our data, and it’s clear that the new Weekly Quests didn’t do their job of rewarding you for your time playing the game. Going forward, we want to strike a much better balance between your time spent in Hearthstone and the rewards given by Weekly Quests.

So we’re making some more updates in this patch, reducing the requirements on the Weekly Quests that seem to be blocking player progression for many of you, while leaving the increased XP where it is. We hope these new changes will still reward you more while keeping Weekly Quests an attaina...
