Patch 27.4 is now live and Yogg-Saron is unleashed from his prison in the new 38-card Fall of Ulduar Mini-Set! Follow this page for updates on issues we’re tracking with this patch.

The following are some of the known issues we’re tracking this patch:

  • [Added 9/19] We’ve received reports of antivirus software flagging “audioplugin_fluxer.dll” as malware. This is a false positive that has been submitted to the antivirus vendors for clearance. The file can be safely restored without risk and we are working to clear the flags as quickly as possible.

  • [Added 9/19] The team is investigating an issue with Battlegrounds games unexpectedly hanging. Maiev has (ironically) gone dormant and is temporarily unavailable as a Hero until a fix is found.

  • [Resolved 9/22] Some Hearthstone anomalies have unintuitive interactions with Start of Game cards such as Prince Renathal. A fix is coming in a future hotfix patch....

If it was the first tweet, it was something along the lines of "We're trying something new, we hope it's fun, if it's not then we'll fix it." There was some exasperation sprinkled in there as well.

Then I chatted with Casie a bit about Hearthstone being 10 years old, acknowledged some people's concerns about friendly matches, said Anomalies aren't in Duels, tweeted the tweet that this whole thread was about, and I can't remember much after that.

That isn't the point being made.

The point made was that Cora overhyped Warrior for this calendar year, however on an organic level, it flopped twice and took several buffs to their cards (upwards of half each of their meta decks) as well as nerfs to other decks for it to happen.

This is followed by a claim that constructed anomalies are not intended to significantly change the direction of the game, yet on release there are numerous situations where the direction of the game would be irrefutably changed for better or worse.

When on two occasions, a representative of the game, makes statements that end up being contrary to the message, it makes us concerned at the legitimacy of their future comments.

OK, this is getting out of hand now. I said Warrior had a lot to look forward to this year. I was excited about upcoming cards, and I tweeted about that excitement. It's a meme now, but it wasn't me being deceptive. I had just played games with Odyn that day, and he was a cool card.

This tweet was me trying to reassure people who were unhappy. Clearly, it did more harm than good, and I deleted it when people became vocal. This was also tweeted after I initially acknowledged the concerns and said we have actions that we can take to fix things if people don't like the system.

I understand being upset. I understand wanting to find someone to blame. But I never intended to mislead anybody, and if people don't like the system, then we'll fix it. It's really that simple.

Patch 27.4 brings the Fall of Ulduar Mini-Set; Yogg-Saron has escaped and is spreading his Anomalies across Hearthstone!

Ulduar Has Fallen

There’s a new Titan in town. Cast spells to fuel the Old God’s power, bring madness to the Tavern with Chaotic Tendrils, and unleash Yogg-Saron on your opponents with this Mini-Set of 38 all-new cards. We’re making some changes to the current expansion Pre-Release Weekend and Fireside Gatherings system ahead of our next expansion announcement, reveal period, and launch.

A Fond Farewell to Fireside Gatherings

First, we’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue the Fireside Gatherings program as we re-align our focus towards features and programs that can serve more of our players throughout the world.

As part of this shift, the Fireside Gatherings website, servers, and in-game buttons will be shut down and removed before the next expansion. Some of these changes have already gone into effect; others are scheduled over the next few patches. As of today, the public Fireside Gatherings website has been shut down. This means you will no longer be able to create public or private Fireside Gatherings, and there are no Fireside Gathering Pre-Release Weekend plans for future expansions.

It hasn't been quite sitting right with me that you phrased the above as "what you're asking". I wanted to verify that we're on the same page that we're talking about a behavior that EVERY OTHER SET does follow, not some creative extra behavior I'm dreaming up :) [Not sure if you actually meant it that way, just double-checking]

Here's a post you've made in the past where you note that once you own all cards in a set, goldens will "prefer a card you haven't gotten the golden of". I just wanted to clarify it's this behavior I'm talking about. Other sets guarantee you get goldens you don't have in golden before getting duplicate goldens (of that rarity). Caverns of Time does NOT - you can and I did get duplicate goldens before getting goldens o...

To be clear, Caverns *does* guarantee that a golden you get will be one you haven't gotten before, just like every other set.

The new thing here is that this is the first time we've done reprints. Goldens are a cosmetic thing, not a functional thing, just like the reprint, so we counted them as tied in priority. We hear the feedback that you'd prefer it if golden trumped different set, and it's something we're discussing for the future.
