There's a lot of differences (timing, UI, rules interactions), but I suppose there are similarities too. They both happen between you dragging the card out from your hand and your opponent seeing the action you've performed. #wotc_staff

Thanks for the link. We'll investigate this! #wotc_staff

EDIT: Wait... this video is from July. Nowadays at least we don't autopay if the payment-time solution is different than the priority-time solution. But it appears this is a situation where that happens. We'll find out why.

Comment

Mana payment conditions like Adamant certainly were a new challenge for Autotap. I think we did a pretty good job with our solution to the interface though.

If the mana you have available makes it possible for you to choose between paying the adamant cost and not doing so, you will be offered that choice at payment time. There will be two buttons, one which pays the adamant mana, and one which avoids paying it. You can also at that time manually produce the mana you want. #wotc_staff

That DLL and all the others the game use should be in \MTGA_Data\Plugins

If it's not there, then reinstalling may help. If it is, I suspect something is preventing the game from reading from that directory. Please contact Game Support and send over your log files.

I'll note that some players have had this problem when trying to read from a network/cloud drive with OS setups that don't allow such access.

When, not if. It’s high on our list.

Not exclusive; nothing changes unless you want it to. Just another way to download the game. You'll still be able to download directly from us, just like always.

Yes, in the next update you'll be able to choose which pet you want to use (as well as which tier of that pet, in case you prefer the look of the lower tiers).

Wait, Brawl is only once per week? What?

We don't have a great idea what the sustained demand for Brawl will be like, so this is where we're starting. If demand starts/goes low, having it up all the time would mean that players are distributed across the week and it takes forever to get a match. This could further reduce demand, creating a negative feedback loop. So we're starting with one day per week to focus play, keep queues healthy, and better let demand grow. And we'll see where that demand takes things. If demand is high (not just on the first go around, but sustained), we'll look to adjust how/when we're offering it.

You're welcome.

Wow, crazy that we both arrived at the exact same list!

Some cards are easy to add; they “just work” and we don’t need to do anything special to support them. Other cards take real work (sometimes a lot) to get working properly. Since Momir is a random and scattershot mode, it was fine to just add in whatever works automatically. Cubes, on the other hand, are artful and carefully constructed. Just using “whatever cards worked automatically” would make for a pretty poor one.

So we can’t really pull the same trick for a cube, but figuring out how to support cubes properly is something we’re definitely interested in. It’ll just take a bit more time and effort to pull that off than this did.

Older cards not in MTG Arena with high converted mana costs were added to the pool of cards that the Momir emblem can pull from. The abilities all work (though some aren't useful in a Momir context).

This was done in order to get a higher diversity of cards at higher converted mana costs to make the format more in the spirit it was intended. Impervious Greatwurm being the only 10 and Zacama, Primal Calamity being one of only three 9s was not the play pattern desired for this event.

Have fun! #WotCStaff

^ This. These cards are just to add some spice to Momir at high CMCs; no connection to the new cards that will be added for Historic.

That's not how summoning sickness works - it's not a status that is added and removed from creatures. When determining if something can attack (or pay costs with the tap symbol), it can do so if you've controlled it since the beginning of your last upkeep or if it has haste (or some other ability that allows it to do so). Having haste doesn't have any lasting effects that persist when you remove it. #wotc_staff

Yes, the abilities work. #wotc_staff

Solved it. I'll try to make sure it gets in for the ELD release. I'm really shocked this hadn't been found before as far as I know! The underlying issue was pretty complicated this time :/ ... #wotc_staff

On the other hand, I fully understand that it would be stupid from an economical pov to code cards that no one will want to buy. So zero additions is the safest and cheapest way.

If you want to open up another revenue stream with old cards, why not give that idea some more thought than a few weeks and eventually create it's own format?

One of the things my team here at Wizards social/community does is make sure this kind of feedback gets to the design teams here in Renton. We've been sharing this with the MTG Arena development team directly throughout the implementation of Historic. The team is really excited for Historic on Arena to be its own original format that can leverage the digital playground. In order to ensure that it's a fun and healthy sort of playground, we're working with the Magic R&D team (sometimes referred to as Studio X) and the play test teams for any additional cards added to the format.

I like the changes overall, but Historic not counting towards daily wins just feels petty.

Hey there! Just to make things as clear as we can: The Historic Ranked queues coming later this year and Historic events will offer full rewards and progress toward daily/weekly wins. So while the always-available Historic play queue only offers experience via quest completion, there are other ways that Historic play will count toward daily/weekly wins.

Inspiring Commander (and the other cards in the ANA set) don’t rotate. Note that ANA cards are not legal in any Traditional (Bo3) modes.
