People might start working in video games because they think it's fun but you don't stay in video games unless you have a passion for it because it's immensely stressful - as are most jobs in the overarching entertainment industry. I've been working in the video game industry for well over a decade and there are many, many days where I've been an emotional wreck. Fortunately I work in a studio where my contributions are valued and I wouldn't be here if they weren't. I wouldn't expect for you to know what goes on behind the scenes; the number of times where I've risked relationships with my colleagues to die on the hill for the community. But man, to say I only care about collecting a paycheck isn't accurate or cool. I'm flesh and blood, just like you. I play the game every day, just like you. I get frustrated sometimes, just like you. And I care about the health of the game and community, just like you.
