Hi there! To clarify first, I'm speaking in this thread only as a community member and an ex-lead for the Aether Mod team, as I now work as a designer at Mojang Studios. I am still in constant communication with the Aether Mod team and good friends with Oscar who is the current team lead and the person who continued the project after I left. It's true that when the original Aether Dimension map came out that I felt both surprised and concerned as it was using the same name as the mod we created all those years ago. However, since then a lot of communication has happened, and I can say that everyone within the original mod team is happy with how it's turned out.

So, I wanted to clear the air a little around the Ether Dimension II map specifically. A while ago I was in contact with Oscar to figure out how to proceed. We contacted the developers over at SNDBX about the Aether Dimension project (as it was originally named when the first map was released), and both of us explain...

We haven't really decided or discussed anything. This decision is based on the current situation, if the situation was to change we'd have to discuss that then.

As you have no doubt heard by now, Reddit management introduced changes recently that have led to rule and moderation changes across many subreddits. Because of these changes, we no longer feel that Reddit is an appropriate place to post official content or refer our players to.

We want to thank you for all the feedback and discussion you've participated in in past changelog threads. You are of course welcome to post unofficial update threads going forward, and if you want to reach the team with feedback about the game, please visit our feedback site at feedback.minecraft.net or contact us on one of our official social media channels.

Edit for clarification: This notice is only about the changelogs posts the Java Team has been making for quite some time which we have decided stop, it ...

Now this is me speaking purely from a personal point of view, not in any way as a representative of the company I work for... so here's my personal take. I've been a reddit user for a very long time now, it's a social network form that fits my personal style extremely well. Over the last couple of days, I've repeatedly found myself almost opening up reddit out of sheer habit.

And yet over the last couple of days I have stayed away, and actually I only opened it up today because I read that these types of votes were going on.

I'd love to have reddit back, but that needs to be a reddit that isn't hostile to its community. Until then, I'll keep staying away and I'd argue all subreddits should stay closed. Reddit leadership currently thinks this protest will blow over and they'll get away with it. If the large subreddits reopen, they will be right and this site will go down the drain.

The only option is to keep protesting, and that means stayin...

Before 1.20 comes out, please make it so signs from 1.19 and below are converted to waxed signs. There are special signs on servers/maps that have right click commands or just were never supposed to be edited in general and it will be troublesome to go in and wax them. Whereas, normal players having to break their old signs once to unwax them if they want to edit them isn't so troublesome.

I would make a feedback, but if 1.20 comes out it will be too late anyway and people will just have to deal with it.

Signs with commands no longer are editable since a recent snapshot which solves this problem, but we don't want to have them waxed because that would prevent being able to recolor them or make them glow.

It is now time for the first Pre-release for Minecraft 1.20: The Trails and Tales update!

From now on, you should mostly see bugs being fixed. In addition to that, pre-releases don't follow the regular snapshot cadence of releasing on Wednesdays, so keep an eye out for the next pre-release.

As always, a big thank you to the community for your feedback, bugs reported, and awesome ideas throughout the snapshot series. Let the pre-releases commence!

New Features

  • new advancements added
  • new music added

Ah well, it's shaping up to be an ok update. Nice to see a healthy bugfix list that isn't just the new stuff getting made usable.

You manage to put a quote out of context just below the article and people still upvote. 🤷‍♂️

Hello! Here is a new snapshot with tweaks to the new features, new advancements, new music and some long-awaited technical changes. For some time we've been working on a new faster light engine, and we are finally ready to share the result. Special thank you to the community for not only pointing out the issues with the game's light engine, but also to community members that have developed mods and plugins which have highlighted these performance challenges and served as an inspiration for our new implementation.

Please break it in all possible ways and report bugs!
