This time all you gotta do is nuke the bots without all the other stuff. Ez Clap
We ban them at a much, much faster rate than we did back then.

The down side of this update was that it made the game unplayable for a lot of people that played using the official client (due to it playing super laggy) . It would also break all the third party clients and we didn't even have mobile to consider back then
I absolutely love this. It's great to see how your work has progressed with each piece of art you've created. Keep up the amazing work and I look forward to seeing your next creation!
oof this hurts my eyes
Can you update this comment when the prize is shipped?
I shipped it out this morning and emailed the player with the tracking number so they can follow it with the delivery company.
very sweet, big approve
This is unacceptable and I can only apologise on behalf of the former employees that were responsible for sending these out before I joined the OSRS Team. Sween and myself will be handling this first thing this morning. I've prepared a prize on my desk and will send the player a tracking number once I file it in the parcel delivery system. If anyone else is in the same situation, please message me and I will do my best to assist.
Hey! I'm not that familiar with the competition, it being for RS3 and before my team in OSRS, but I'll look into this for you tomorrow. Do drop me a DM with your RSN (and as it may have been at the time of the competition).

Lol, does this not taint your view on how the wilderness works in regards to multi-combat, timers, or things like that? I never really got bothered thaaaat much until I started an Ironman and had to consider the zero-benefit game of fighting back and assessment of how protected items are based on GE Values which don’t matter to Ironmen and things like that.
I suppose. The wilderness wasn't really made for ironman play though, so there are bound to be some issues.
It seems to have a very earthy "pine tree" feel to it, almost akin to areas near Rellekka and Burthope
I also love how the new area incorporates more impassable terrain- things like steep slopes or walls have always done a huge role in shaping areas. How a player navigates an area sticks with that place's identity, and old Zeah pretty much never had that. Old Zeah felt kind of like one big fair, with tents/ buildings in a huge grid for you to walk up and play little games at.
I made this god knows how long ago, to try and visually explain what more natural pathing, smaller buildings, and impassible terrain could do to an area to make it feel so much more real. Your reworks take this approach intuitively, and it makes me happy for the future of this game's map design :D
Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking. There's a forest near where I grew up called Thetford Forest and I'd love to create something reminiscent of this style (obviously with much smaller trees due to our limitations) with large sections of red-brown ferns amongst the trees. Now, this is quite at odds with the Persian-esuqe aesthetic of current Shayzien but I've always felt that a harsh mixing of styles makes things feel unique and fantastical. Unsure if you've ever read the WoT (I'm halfway through it myself... it's long) but there's a civilization known as the 'Aiel' (Eye-eel, or something like that) and they're a very strange mixture of real world cultures that makes them very unique and grounded as a result. I think if we reduced some of the vibrancy from the Shayzien red to a more maroon/brown it could sensibly be used as camo in a forest with a littering of brown ferns and bright red berry bushes.
Yeah, the original layout of Zeah was very theme-parky. It was c...
Read moreRuneScape isn't that sort of fantasy game.
Ah yes, the good ol' btw
(☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞
have you ever been skull tricked when trying to fight back?
Yeah, one time. Was quite disappointed in myself, ngl. Only lost a dds and an rcb though, not the end of the world.
I can't even loot anyway - you see, I'm an ironman. I may not have mentioned :P
relatable
I’ve never really heard Jagex’s take (or Mods’ take) on PKing people that are PvMing. I guess it’s good that this is relatable.
TBF I like to fight back every now and then. Especially in deep wild if I'm being teamed by pures as I've managed to kill some of the... let's say, less skilled pkers from time to time. Only if wildy slaying though, if I'm clue scrolling all I have is a spade.
I'm still trash though and can't click for sh*t :P
Is there a chance that this new art director is out of touch with how the players want osrs art to look? I think its a genuine worry/concern to have considering past experiences, some reassurance that the director is on the same page with the style of the game and the style the players want would be nice. I think your stuff is literally perfectly spot on to the osrs art style btw.
Their job certainly isn't to alienate the community by changing the game into something it isn't. That wouldn't be overly productive :P Ry, Gee and I are helping him every step of the way and he'll be gathering feedback from both the wider team and the player base in time but it's very early stages atm.
I'm glad you feel my work is on point, it's what I've always strived for at the end of the day :D The thing is, a lot of players have wildly differing opinions on what 'OSRS style' is and it generally depends quite heavily on the time period they played back in the day that was most formative. I personally started in 2004 and played up until 2010 and fortunately the graphics being made during 2007 was always my favorite. Areas that were updated like Falador, Varrock and Canifis are good examples. Hopefully we keep some parity with these locations as that's what I've been doing since I joined. Although I suppose I may have messed it up a few times coughdragonstonearm...
