Yes it can't hurt, I assume you mean 'years' between appeals rather than months

Yep ... or go to our site, hit 'support' and type the search string 'ban'

I was curious, is it possible that an account can be listed or set as a non recoverable account? I have heard from different sources it can, and can't some saying a JMod has made some as such in the past. I'm wondering because I had an account last November compromised in a way I have no clue how and the bank pin bypassed even though I had the 7 day pin delay set. Since then I have made a new account and been working on it, but wanted to know if that was a possibility for the old account to have it set as unrecoverable in the event that happened again.

You can attempt to recover an account without logging into it, so it is impossible to make an account 'unrecoverable' because you can't stop someone submitting a recovery web form from a not logged in state. Common sense account security, especially having Auth set, should stop malicious recovery. You can disable an account, and that will block all recovery, but that's not the solution you are asking for.

I have already tried appealing the mute but was told I was in control of the account at the time, which is impossible given the circumstances. Is there anyway I can appeal again? Ign - dooknukem3d

The hijacker triggered 110 abuse reports about your account, in addition they are not a 'clear' hijacker, a lot of the data we have logged about the hijacker is similar to your own. I can see why the appeal would have been denied. That said, I do agree the mute is incorrect though, so I have archived all reports and lifted the mute for you.

Hi, I thought I’d try this as I’m uncertain to where else I could find this information.

I recently received an account from my friend, it’s an account they used to stake with, so it has nmzed combat and nothing else except a bit of slayer and RFD done on it.

We swapped over emails to mine, and I changed passwords as well. I have had it for a month or two now, but I haven’t logged in on it as I still use my main and my computer can’t handle 2 clients run at the same time without a bit of lag. My question is, how likely is it I can lose the account? I won’t want to make it into an alt and keep wealth on it and then wake up one day to see that I no longer have access to it. Time wasted, money lost.

Is it possible to receive an answer for this, please? Thank you.

Well when the day comes (which it will) that the original creator wants the account back, he/she will get it no problem, you will have no recourse at all and anything you have added to the account in terms of time invested, achievements or money will be handed over to the creator - you'll also make yourself look like a hijacker. I'm not naive enough to think that nobody shares accounts, but I would honestly not advise it - I see the fall out of shares gone wrong too often!

Yes of course, if you created the account you are the only person that can recover it - go for it!

It baffles me that you're here looking into this, we've felt lost for ages over stuff like this. Hate to jump on this as well but it feels like it might be my only option.

I had my account hijacked recently, I hadn't been on for a few weeks but I can't get online the password has been changed, i've got access to my email (A .mail account) and there's nothing there to say it was taken. I also put an account recovery email in and didn't get a response, and I can't find it on the hiscores any more as the name's been changed I think.

IGN: Adhedonia (Before it was changed)

Yep that has been banned, feel free to pop a ban appeal in

Does this apply for people interface stalling in order to lure players?

The ban will be labelled as bug abuse if that is the cause of the ban

I hate to hop on this bandwagon, but I figured its worth a shot. I had an account that I started when I was in third or fourth grade, It was my childhood account. I grew up super poor so I always played at the public library, school, or a friends house. We didn't have a computer til I was in middle school. Anyways, This account was stolen from me when I was in 5th or 6th grade in ways that I didn't understand. I would see it online once and awhile and even spoke with the person playing the account at one point from one of my alts. Ive tried to look up the player name in the highscores to see what happened with the account, but it doesn't show up. Is there any way you could help me figure out what happened to my account or possibly grant me access to it again? RSN was Player458 (Very original name I know, Third grade me assumed everyone would know I meant Playa Pimp ladies man player, not video game player.)

The account sill exists and is dormant on our systems - there is no recovery email on the account so you'll need to pop a recovery request in to us, the name was freed up years ago but once you have recovered it you will be able to set a new name at first log in.

Yes it is a perm ban and that one can't be appealed as it is a RWT offence

Thanks for the clarification, that makes it much easier to understand.

I had an account for a long time, and decided to bot on it when I was about 14. The ban was 6 years ago. Since then, I have made another account (quite recently), which I played legitimately, and have hit 1500 total so far. While this new account is much better statted, quested, everything... I am still pretty sad about getting my childhood account banned.

Is there anyway that account can be checked out? RSN is Fred424242.

Thank you.

Edit: I can’t appeal the offence, because I tried appealing when it first happened I believe.

We have never had a ban appeal for that account, I can't fully guarantee it but from what I can see it looks like a prime candidate to be unbanned on appeal - pop one in :)

Hi Mod Steve,

How does the ‘old offences are appealable’ system work? You mentioned that it’s not a high risk offence, what does that mean?

So my question I guess is: what offences can be unbanned? After how long ?

I did some dumb stuff when I was younger, so I’m interested.

Thank you!

Most bans can be appealed, the only ones that can't are for things like hijacking, bug abuse, fraud and safety issues. The older the ban, the more likely it is to be granted and unbanned.

If you have access to the recovery email you can request a pass reset link - if you don't have access to the email then submit a manual recovery request

Sorry that ban is correct, there was a recovery made for the account which was granted, as part of the recovery request the account also had the ban quashed, although the decision to grant the recovery request was correct, the decision to remove the ban was not, so the ban was subsequently re-applied as part of our internal quality process checks
