Hey everyone, we're looking into this right now. We've temporarily disabled competitive play while we dig into the issue.

Thank you for the response.

I would also like to add that the same issue applies to the Wrecking Ball's Adaptive Shield, but I wasn't aware of that until today.

Fixing that one up too!

Ugh, today in, "Overwatch is held together by spaghetti code and jerry rigged logic"

The details for this bug are super interesting. Overwatch is mostly data driven for gameplay. In this particular case this bug is the result of one checkbox that toggles using aim to adjust a target tracking area.

Some bugs are caused by complicated code that is difficult to maintain over time, but it’s rare that those bugs are hero ability bugs.

Cheers

Thanks to everyone that has been participating in our Role Queue Beta Season! We’ve been reading all your feedback and we look forward to officially launching Role Queue to Competitive Play and Quick Play soon.

As you may have read previously, we’ve been planning to enable Role Queue for Competitive Play and Quick Play simultaneously. However, Role Queue is a huge change to Overwatch gameplay and we want to ensure a smooth launch for both Competitive and Quick Play. To this end, we’ve decided to separate the launch times and delay Role Queue for Quick Play until September 3rd at 11:00 PST. This will allow us to fully support and respond to any issues that may arise for both Competitive Play and Quick Play.

Please reference below for Role Queue official launch times:

  • Competitive Play: August 31st @ 5PM PST (September 1st 00:00 UTC)

  • Quick Play: September 3rd @ 11AM PST

  • ...

The results of your matches in the Role Queue Beta are not being thrown out and will be used by the matchmaking systems to help determine your skill in season 18.

What the blog post was trying to explain is that the Role Queue Beta season’s stats in your player profile will only be available for a limited time, and they will not be added to your career competitive totals that you can see when you choose “ALL COMPETITIVE SEASONS” in your career stats.

Post

Scott, can you 100% clarify if the accumulated matchmaking rating from Role Queue Beta will be or not be passed over to season 18? I have been going off of the news blog post that all stats from the beta will not count, but the community is still concerned about this aspect.

We’re now over halfway into the Role Queue Beta Season, and the introduction of Role Queue into Quickplay and Season 18 are just around the corner on September 1. We wanted to take the opportunity to address feedback we’ve been reading on our forums and other social media, as well as provide some insights into how these systems work.

The primary goal of this feature has always been to increase the quality of Overwatch matches, and it’s been great to see so much positive feedback about match quality in a role queue world. Creating high quality online multiplayer games of Overwatch has multiple components and Role Queue has helped us do this in several important ways.

We believe the most exciting, fun games are between players of similar skill. Role Queue allows us to track your skill with the three roles separately. So, when you play as a 2100 SR Tank we try to match you with 2100 SR Damage and Support players, both on your team and on the enemy team. We can’t guarantee...

If you’ve been playing Custom Games on PTR, you may have noticed that seasonal maps were enabled for Custom Games. Unfortunately, we caught a few bugs that we’d like to fix before adding these into the selection pool. We’ll be temporarily disabling the seasonal maps from Custom Games until they are all ready to go.

As always, thank you for the feedback and keep an eye open for updates!

Hi folks, it’s good to see everyone enjoying dummy bots and the other new Workshop features! We’ve fixed a few of the issues that you all have discovered, and they will be getting pushed to PTR next week (hopefully Monday, possibly later):

  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused Create Dummy Bot to spawn nothing.
  • Fixed a bug that caused D.Va, Bob, turrets, barriers, and other “pets” to fail to spawn when using Create Dummy Bot.
  • Fixed a bug that caused previously-stored presets containing the Create HUD Text or Create In-World Text actions to fail to convert to text properly (for the purposes of copying to clipboard and displaying the action summary in the action list) after being loaded.

We’ll continue to monitor these forums and push out fixes when we can. Happy scripting!

Hello everyone,

Our network engineers continue to investigate the connectivity issues and we would like to request some fresh traceroutes using a different IP address.

Please feel free to run a new traceroute to 24.105.62.129 and post the results.

The more information we gather here the better, so it is very much appreciated. Thanks to everyone who has already helped out so far.
