I wouldn't be surprised if they get a replacement of some sort during their rework.

Might not be a sea unit, though...

A new and/or expanded tutorial would be great. There’s so many intricacies in Polytopia that the game never teaches you that would greatly help many players

I'll push even harder for one.

This is partially why I pushed for detailed blog posts that we posted during every beta patch - I tried to ease you into the new stuff. Easier than coding a new tutorial (but I'll push for one).

We knew it might be a lot to absorb at once, and we knew it'd mess with your muscle memory, but the new stuff got rave reviews during our beta testing, telling us that maybe it just need some polish. We hope that the new features get some refining and end up more fun than before, and we hope you're there to join us on this journey :)

or just 2v2

The specifics are still being decided.

But most likely free-form.

Technically, Scouts were built to kill Bombers, as they're cheap and can hit Bombers nicely.

Hard to tell in your specific situation, though

I mentioned the bombers but it’s not just that - really it’s the severity of the change. It feels like a different game. And I don’t want to play it anymore. Wishing I’d never updated.

Well, I ask that you stick around as it goes through the next few patches. Should smooth things out a little, and we'd love to hear what you think after then. :)

Speed may be "fun", but it is a pain to balance around. Everything revolved around how fast and how much you could chop, and it created a bottleneck.

That's why it was unhealthy. We don't want the game to revolve around a particular tech/strategy, even if it's fun. We want to give you options.

Nah, this is normal for WW

Give it a patch or two and it will feel more normal. :)

We're looking into the AI. Promise.

You should be able to convert (at a cost) a naval unit into another. Say I think I need rammers. I make a couple and send them out only to undo the fog of war and see I don’t need them. It was a waste. Or another time I make scouts and send them out. Now I uncover the fog and see rammers coming. I’m screwed. I can’t react when the rammers wipe out my scouts and then destroy all my new ships in ports.

You should probably begin any exploration with Scouts first, as that is their job.

Thankfully, they're pretty cheap. :)

You guys gotta help us folks trying to do 100,000+ perfection. It was already hard enough, and the removal of ports has made it, from what I can tell, basically impossible. Economies are impossible to truly grow.

We didn't remove Ports.

We just spread their resources to other places. Should all work out the same as before mathematically.

That being said, we're keeping an eye on things.

I'm not a coder so I may be missing something here. Everyone who loves the game would totally purchase it, giving y'all a great income for the year. Plus, all the naysayers would feel like you listened to them. And I sense that the naysayers would eventually enjoy the new version just as much, if not more. It would be win win for y'all if you could do it this way.

Nah, that's just not how we operate. We'll make a Poly 2 when we're ready, not as some knee-jerk reaction to a handful of disgruntled fans. That's just bad game design and relatively short sighted.

If we're going to make a proper sequel, we're going to design a proper sequel. And besides, we promised that the Ancients would be added to this game. So they've gotta happen first. :P

We are looking into Splash/Stomp hitting certain units, but we do want you to be careful with them.

The reason we wanted Rafts to only be upgraded in your territory is so that you plan ahead a little when making a navy. We don't like the idea ofnyou keeping a ton of rafts just outside a battle an upgrading them to fill your navy composition on the fly. If you dont build enough Rammers, thats on you. This was actually one of the more popular new features during beta testing!

The unexpected "you can't use this boat from 2 squares away to hit a guy on land without taking a hit" was my main complaint but I do see why .. boats were OP before. Maybe have an option for a tutorial game that teaches you the can and cannots? I do think it will be just as fun as before once all the details are known and people get in a gameplay groove.

Just know, you guys are my fav dev team and that hasn't changed.

BUT... If you guys did split between poly 1 and poly 2... That's money :)

I can tell you we're nowhere ready to make Poly 2.

Ww've still got plenty of plans for this one.

I have played many games and polytopia is the only one I have played regularly for years. I've tried to find similar games to no avail. I love polytopia. You guys are the best. You don't have overpriced items (will always love y'all for that. Respect.), the gameplay is simple yet allows for strategizing, graphics are great.

Honestly sometimes the game gets boring just because I've played it so much. I have been waiting for polytopia 2 for years but it feels all forlorn that the classic is no longer available. If I had it my way, this update would have been poly 2.

There was another game I liked as much but it only had 2 stages. It was a turn based strategy game set on Tetris-like tiles that you built. Can't remember the name but we n...

This may seem biased, but during development, everyone on the team said this new update was the most fun they've had with the game in a long time.

We feel that some of the changes will take some getting used to (and maybe a patch or two), but we hope you enjoy the new stuff just as much as before. :)
