[2022] Cant find the download for the Trial Version. Is it still not out yet?

My friends are trying to get me to play through the buddy pass system and I am interested. I've checked all the storefronts on PC for any way to download this trail version but was unable to find it. I read bunch of articles on the buddy system and they were unhelpful as they just said to "download the free trial on the platform of your choosing". I also checked these forums for any additional info and it seems that the buddy system was deliberately delayed when the game launched on the 20th. I understand this, however, all the articles I've read are dated for yesterday and give the impression that it is available. Am I missing something or is it truly not out yet?
