Ok so every time I boot rainbow six I have to change my settings back to where I want them. My screen size isn't 1980x1080, my controls are back to default. And ive tried everything, I've re downloaded the game, I tried to go to the .ini file but I don't even have a "My games" folder inside of documents so I can't even get to the .ini file. people are saying that if I go to "My games, Rainbow six siege, and find a .ini file and go to properties and uncheck read only. When I don't even have a My games folder.. Please help

Hi there,

To double check, can you please try and check here: C:\Users\\Documents\My Games\Rainbow Six - Siege\\GameSettings.ini

That's odd. As soon as you play the game, the settings file should be recreated.

Can you both please try running both Uplay PC and Rainbow6 as admin?

Do you still have the same issue after verifying the game files in steam?

Hey,

What troubleshooting have you tried so far? Have you tried deleting the file then launching Siege with admin rights?

Please restart your PC, run Uplay and Steam as administrator, and then verify your game files in Steam. Let me know if that helps!

We're sorry to hear that, DeenoG59

Have you been through the troubleshooting that has been provided in this thread for other users?

Thanks for letting us know. A fresh installation of Windows wouldn't be our first recommendation (as we'd like to sort it before resorting to something that drastic!) but if you're willing to give it a try, let us know if it helps.

Before that, though, I'm curious if the steps in this FAQ help the issue at all? Though these are for a slightly different issue, I'm wondering if the issue is linked to your player profile. Resetting this would be a valuable step to try.

This will have the unfortunate side effect of resetting your situation progress and loadouts, however. If possible for you to do so, please give those steps a try and let us know if the issue is resolved.

Hey, thanks for sharing what worked for you!

In my experience, this issue usually occurs due to a corrupt profile, or lack of writing permissions to save the file.

All the best!

Hello!

Do you happen to receive an error regarding your profile?

The issue you face is usually related to a corrupt save / profile, and so it needs to recreate itself every time you launch the game.

I recommend trying these steps: https://support.ubisoft.com/Article/000061964

Let us know how it goes!

Hey Panda.DT,

Welcome to the Forums and sorry for the delay in getting back to you!

I'm afraid I'm unclear as to what you're referring to?

Are you attempting to whitelist the game?
As the above linked steps don't involve Windows Defender at all, may we know what it is you're looking to do so we can point you in the right direction?

Thank you!
