Hey Anton,

I believe this would be a question best-asked to PlayStation Support directly, as while Assassin's Creed Valhalla supports the next-gen upgrade, we don't control the system's inner workings, nor have insight into them. I don't think the upgrade is to be treated as a DLC - more like an update - but it would be best to check this with them.

If you bought a digital version of the game, I don't believe there would be any issues with upgrading as the upgrade would be delivered by the same PlayStation Store as you made your purchase from, but as you are contemplating purchasing a physical version, contacting PlayStation Support for assistance would definitely be my recommendation.

I'm sorry to hear that you're encountering this issue. It's one that we are aware of, and have a fix planned for in a future update.

In the meantime, we've found a workaround that should allow you to pass this sequence - please go to the game options, to the interface settings, and then set "hold alternative" to OFF. Please then return to the sequence and try again.

As a heads-up, these forums for Assassin's Creed Valhalla have been discontinued. You can find and post on our new Player Support forums for the game here, and I'd ask that you post there if needing any additional assistance with this issue. Thank you!

The game was available from Epic Games from 11:00 AM ET / 04:00 PM GMT. As you've mentioned likely trying to access the game before this time, it explains why you were unable to play. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience caused by this, and hope that you've been enjoying the game since!

- A screenshot or short video clip showing the missing shadows / textures missing

- A screenshot of your in-game settings

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and concerns regarding Assassin's Creed Valhalla's optimisation on PC.

I'd recommend following our PC troubleshooting, as well as performing a clean boot of Windows, to make sure that the game is running in as much of an optimal environment as possible. You've mentioned you're still on version 1909 of Windows as well - I'd recommend updating to the latest version in order to make sure that your OS is working at its best.

If you preordered the game for PC from us, the preorder bonus itself should already be activated on your account. There's no need to wait for a code to redeem.

If you ordered from another retailer, you'd need to speak to them to make sure that you have been provided with all of the redeemable codes you need to access any additional content you were eligible to receive, including the Way of the Berserker preorder bonus.

Thank you for reporting this issue, and for sharing a video of it as well! I saw that you posted in this thread as well, where my colleague Litten shared some recommended troubleshooting steps. Please give those a try, and also try changing your graphics settings to "High" and replaying that section by reloading an older save. For other issues with this quest, that has worked as a workaround, so I'm wondering if that will be the case here as well.

Hey DSD27,

In order to support Ubisoft+ some games will include an additional .exe file. This will come as a patch for games that you already have installed and be included as part of the download package for new installations, however it will only be used to launch games you have through Ubisoft+. If you do not have a Ubisoft+ subscription, you will not use this.
