season 4 is probably gonna make me start playing Steep a lot more.... without even playing yet, a lot of these "upgrades" have made the game worse
casual basically became ranked for no reason... the changes to ranked means i have to play casual when im playing with my girl... changing the players online format is just f**king stupid

This is a result of the new 2v2 Auto Tournament playlists that are being released with this patch. Since your game hasn't been updated, it wasn't able to handle the new AT playlists properly.

We're making some adjustments so you won't be backfilled into games like this. We also fixed it so you won't get backfilled into a game you have left.

It's a little more complex than that. RL uses PsyNet to manage backend services, and it also runs on UE3. Adding voice requires a substantial amount of work in both. :D
