The thing is that your friend is probably pumped to have one of their friends playing with him. Even if you're losing it's still a good time to play with your buds. But regardless, the best thing to do is just practice and spend time in the game, you'll pick it up as you go

Your replays are stored in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\Rocket League\TAGame\Demos which you can create a local backup of. However, the local data should not be removed when you uninstall Rocket League, so creating a local backup is not necessary.

how many restarts and shut downs do i need to do? is there a specific sequential combination like say, 2 restarts followed by 3 shutdowns, and then 1 more last restart, that will allow the game to figure out the incredibly complex mathematical concept of 100 percent?
so far the 5-6 combined restarts/shutdowns i have done have had no effect, so please either tell me the secret sequence or admit that restarting and power cycling won't actually resolve the issue so that i don't waste several more hours trying to get the update to finish installing.

I'm afraid there's no secret sauce to this. I get that you're frustrated with this issue, we are too, but there's nothing that we, Psyonix, can do about it.
We've escalated it multiple times to Xbox as this is a platform issue, but there doesn't seem to be any fix in sight.

My update is 100% but “finishing things up” has been on my screen for 20 mins. Why update at night when everyone just wants to play is beyond me.

Bug: the epic/psyonix friends list is not scaled with the rest of the UI upon starting the game. Once you enter training or any other game mode the friends list is scaled appropriately.

Is anyone else getting inventory desync and resync issues on Steam? I had lost probably 20ish items last night during a match (goal explosion changed from atomic blip to standard mid game), then once the match completed I had all the items come back as "new" items I had to claim.

This sort of behavior should be resolved now after we found and repaired the issue in PsyNet.

Please try restarting your console. If that does not help, you may need to power cycle it.
Still no fix for the painted Octane (Dune Racer etc) :(
