The point of Ironman mode is a challenge game mode where everyone is expected to be held to the same standard

This is certainly a conundrum that I (and the team, really) have inherited - the Ironman experience means different things to different people. The reasoning behind doing an ironman-exclusive poll is to get a clearer picture of what the mode means to different players!

I see the Vorkath Guard and Lantern event will bring back infinite porter buff. Please please please please make sure irons will still get access to this porter buff if they get all the shards (like with golden cape event). The poll on the RS front page is super bugged and should not be used to determine if irons can get infinite porter or not. Thanks and again love these updates!

Hello! I might have commented on it here on Reddit before, but just for clarity and consistency - the poll that ran on the website was purely an informative poll that I was using to gauge reception to Ironman inclusion during these events. I'm very aware that the poll was open to all members (so it was never going to be representative of Ironmen exclusively) so it was never going to be definitive in shaping our direction for the event. It does, however, affirm my desire to run an in-game Ironman-exclusive poll as this is part of a larger conversation!

Anyway, to answer the question - yes, Ironman players will be able to access the event after collecting shards. However, our intent was that we have toggled the buffs off by default for Ironman players. Players will now need to manually opt into the buffs themselves.

We had a lot of constructive conversations around this as a team - the previous events set a precedent that we were consciou...

Checked in with the team on this.

The bundle will still be available after Black Friday - the price during Black Friday is an offer price for only 1 Bond (Members), or 2 Bonds (F2P).

After Black Friday, the Bond Price will be 2 Bonds (Members) or 3 Bonds (F2P). Hope that clears things up!

Amazing patches today mr /u/jagexdoom and the team. If community strikes could happen more often, you would gain a lot of happy players.

Happy to hear it. We've been setting up to be able to tackle Community Hitlist items more often so glad it's being felt.

The team are eager for this to be a regular thing going forward and we're planning for it. Current thinking is we'll likely put out Community Hitlist calls regularly next year (maybe quarterly) - that way we can always be focused on what's top of mind, rather than working through an outdated list of requests.

Very nice changes and are we getting more news about vorkath closer to the release?

We're getting a Livestream section into the TWIR now, we totally missed it this week!

We have a stream on Wednesday where we'll reveal it, followed by a blog.

Edit: Worth mentioning that we'll be showing/revealing specific elements of the Boss and it's rewards - we won't be showcasing any core mechanics of the Boss in action to keep the fun of discovering how to battle him!

Post
  • The Community Hitlist returns with changes to Zamorak, Rune Essence Pouches, Familiars, Stone Spirits and MORE!
  • The Dungeons and Sewers of Edgeville, Varrock and Pollnivneach have all been updated!
  • Premier Membership has been updated!
  • We've got a dedicated area in Burthorpe showing off the key releases coming before the end of this year!

I have indeed got those already noted down with the team as items we'd like to bring back, just gotta find the right time and place to reintroduce them!

Premier Membership gets it's yearly reward refresh on November 13th 2023!

He's right behind me, isn't he?

We've got add-on Premier bundles, a new Premier cosmetic outfit and pet as well as a new 5-minute logout timer extension for all members! Read all about it!

To me I read that as there's no PAID way to increase your letters, but I assumed there would be super grindy "free" ways to do so. But if that's true, that's super hype

So you've got 3 letters per day you can earn, with 3 letters getting you 1 Nice Point. This means the cap each week is essentially 7 Nice Points.

We're also going to have the ability to acquire Letters you missed in the Christmas Spirit Shop so you don't have to play every day to have equal opportunities. You earn Christmas Spirit by playing the seasonal activities at any time.

The countback on missed Letters is not week limited - so say if you missed week 1, you could technically earn up to 14 Nice Points that second week. You can't get more than the limit, but you can get as much as anyone else could have earned up to that point.

It's worth noting that you only need 1 Nice Point to get the new Christmas cosmetic from Santa each week - each Nice Point above that is just additional chances to roll the Black Party Hat (including just the 1 point giving you that chance as well). And if you miss any weeks, as long as you have 1 Nice Point, you'll get the Chris...

I can't tell how much is your work, or how much is concidence; but ever since you started I have noticed a huge turn of how much the players' opinions and ideas get moved into actual dev time rather than just seeing and (sometimes) agreeing.

Seeing all these very honest conversations about why something can't be done - whether it be for a money reason, or time restraint, or multi-department scheduling etc, it's great to hear a human talking and be able to understand that you all work in a company that has its own goals to reach while trying to please the players.

In the same vein, I see a lot of time put aside to focus on what we dislike most, and how to fix it. Things like the community hitlist is a massive improvement and I end up looking forward to those patch weeks more so than big content updates. It's very reminiscent of the pure ninja...

I still feel very new, and I have so much to learn, but it's been almost 9 months now!

It's lovely to see - everyone on the other side of the screen is a person, we're all just being human!

It's an incredible time to be part of this team, and we're all working flat out to do everything we can to make this game the best it can be. I'm very lucky to be a part of this team, so here's to more of this in the future!

Positive feedback is still feedback! On whatever platform you engage with RuneScape on, we use everything to help us generate data points - if you like something, say it! If it's fun, say it!

I need that data to help build reports so that I can go to the team every week and every month and say "Here's what they loved, here's what they liked" and give the team a little more reinforcement in the direction we should be aiming for!

So thank you in advance for feedback on these events and everything we've got cooking for the rest of the year!

(And to anyone seeing this, have a great DXP Live! OP doesn't need it, Mr Maxed over here!)

I appreciate that it’s going to be rare. But the magic of the phat is rarity + exclusivity. Coming back every year just isn’t the same. And I think y’all know that and are attempting to disrupt that equation.

So you are proposing a one-time rare that never comes back which could be argued to generate enormous amounts of FOMO? I've been forwarding a lot of feedback encouraging us to avoid that exact mentality, because it's been consistently cited as a point of contention within the community. Was I misunderstanding? I appreciate any more insight on this you can offer!

People getting the Black Party Hat should be an incredible moment, and so we want it to feel like nobody has to chase the reward - it could happen to anyone!

Why does it have to be an "incredible moment", isn't the whole event meant to be this? Something fresh, new, and exciting to take a break from the game and experience. New limited areas, quests, etc.

So you're saying the only way I can have an incredible time during this event is if it get an outrageously rare item from nonstop playing the game? Unless the other rewards are actually good, and not recolors, or 2 items you get from a quest.

Also, please, don't bring the wrapping paper event into the game, it's tedious, annoying, and forced gameplay mechanics isn't fun. I don't want to log in to ride an agility bike for 20hrs just in hopes to get that "incredible moment".

Well, the whole event is going to be an incredible experience, and I'm very excited for everyone to be there in the new location, trying out the new seasonal quest, together for those moments at Santa's Lodge.

(But again, for those who can't make Sunday evenings, that's ok!)

I would like to think that the time spent in RuneScape is always incredible. Playing nonstop has zero impact on your ability to get the Black Party Hat:

even the most dedicated helper to Santa isn't likely to find it (though you will be guaranteed other Christmassy cosmetics!)

So you'll be able to get a guaranteed cosmetic (they're really good, I'm very excited) every week, and catch up on ones you missed, exclusively through gameplay.

Rip, black phat Recurring every year losing all its value. Hype dead.

Well, I'd advise just waiting and seeing how many you see in the game once players can start getting their hands on them - as we said in the blog:

This will be an incredibly rare drop that only a small number of players will end up earning

I'm sure we'll have some kind of Treasure Hunter promotion for those players looking to pick up some awesome goodies but those have no impact on this event. Everything within the Christmas Village event is exclusively earned via gameplay.

EDIT: 11:15 Game Time:

Hey to come back on this with a bit more clarity -

The Christmas Village Event content is all exclusively earned via gameplay. There's new Christmas cosmetics to earn through the Quest / Seasonal Activities, and the Christmas Spirit shop is packed with old Christmas cosmetics to collect.

On top of the Christmas Village Event, we will have the Wrapping Paper system back as well. The Wrapping Paper event will have it's own rewards, including some seasonal ones, and you can earn Wrapping Paper through both gameplay and TH/bundles. The idea is that the Christmas Event has plenty of directly earnable content, and this layers on top of it as something separate that anyone...
