Hello, Extinction Elites,

What a week! Since launching Second Extinction into Early Access we’ve been overwhelmed with all the positive response and feedback to our little Dino Murder Simulator. We couldn’t be happier with the love you have shown us. But we also wanted to address some of the feedback you’ve shared directly, and let you know about our plans for the coming weeks.  

We have noticed a few of you raising some questions and issues around both matchmaking and forming a party in multiplayer. We wanted to let you know that you’ve been heard! On top of exploring potential bugs we wanted to clarify how things should work.

With matchmaking there are a few things to highlight. We are looking into why some of you are struggling to find matches but don’t have any firm leads as of yet. Hello Recruits,

Thanks for all the support and kind words, and most of all: thanks for playing!

We are working on a hot fix coming as soon as possible to deal with some crashes on start up, rejoining parties and on shutdown. This patch will also have a fix for the "locked in map" issue. We don't have an exact date and time but its in test right now. In the mean time if you are hitting issues please use the FAQ trouble shooting guide[support.secondextinctiongame.com] and keep pinging up messages on what you are finding.

Hey Extinction Elites!

Happy Early Access Launch!

We’re super happy to have you with us in this exciting period. The team here has put a lot of hard work, energy, excitement, passion, and enthusiasm into this game and we are so excited to see our baby take its first wobbly steps into the wild.

Much has been said already about the game and what it is now - you shoot lots of dinosaurs in gory and satisfying ways. But I want to spend this moment to talk a little about our team here and what we hope to accomplish going forward.

Early Access, to us, means a couple of things:

First, it’s a way to get the community involved in the development of the game. Welcome back to Freak of the Week, where we take a closer look at the mutated monstrosities you’re soon going to vanquish in your attempt to reclaim earth.

Next up on the roster is the hard on the outside, soft on the inside FLATBACK!

The Flatback shares a resemblance with the Ankylosaurus, albeit mutated into something far more deadly and destructive. Its only weak spot is the soft belly, so flip him off his feet and gut him!

Design, the invisible but fundamental part of a game.

Unlike art, audio, or animation - which are encountered and remembered in instances - design is supposed to run seamlessly and be unnoticeable.

There’s a saying that 99% of design is invisible; you only really notice it when something starts to go wrong. The designer’s job is to think of all the questions that might pop up when you play the game, and not only have answers to them but present them in a way that’s easy to understand.

Questions on what content and features will be added have started flooding in, and this roadmap gives you a sense of what’s ahead. The roadmap is a living document for you to easily follow the plans and progression of Second Extinction’s Early Access evolution.



Content and features are categorized by how close they are to becoming a reality. This leaves room for you, the community, to influence what we work on and prioritize. We can’t wait to let you get your hands on Second Extinction and join us in the fight to reclaim earth.

Say hi to the little guy with his eyes on the prize - THE WATCHER!
At only 1.65m, The Watcher is more likely to run away than to put up a fight. His strength lies in his ability to call for backup and let his bigger and badder buddies deal with you. Don’t let him make that distress call!

Since he lacks armor but can run fast, ending him with a clean sniper headshot from a distance is a good way to interrupt his alarm signal.
