Reaching the top was well worth it, and during the hike up and down the mountain you will come across multiple hornets, but in the end I didn't find them to be any more of a nuisance that European ones, albeit a bit larger. Sadly didn't manage to get a picture of one - bucketlist
We've heard the stories about how aggressive and dangerous they can be, but in the end it was the mosquitos that did us in.
This was our first encounter with one, so the reaction was a bit over the top. We gathered yourselves and proceeded carefully, still wary of having approached a nest or something. Turned out well, and we reached the picture above.
We headed off the main track and started walking down a path - suddenly we hear and see a japanese hornet, which sends us running back screaming like little girls 😂
Other than Nishiki Market, Fushimi Inari was probably my most memorable place in Kyoto. There's also a secret bamboo forest there! We didn't see anyone else - funny story actually ...
Kyoto street food in Nishiki Market. I like playing the squids in Stellaris, so feels a bit wrong, but I can get over it :) Its marinated in some kind of sauce and has a quail egg inside the head. Very good actually!
