I posted about 260 times in the last week. This week has been filled with meetings, a surprise project, the stream that just finished, more behavioral initiative stuff, and lastly a lot of discussion on feedback from the last week.

I do try to be very engaged, but I'm only human.

HE Splash is regarded as a hit against a Sub.

The HE Splash boxes are ignored in terms of damage to Surface Ships, though they do interact with Modules. Submarines are effected by that Splash intentionally, so it's rewarded with a ribbon.

This is how RPF is modeled currently

A Submarine at Surface and Periscope Depth can receive or give team-spotting.

A Submarine at Maximum Depth cannot receive team-spotting. There is an edge-case of a Sub being able to detect an enemy Submarine with Hydrophone at Max Depth, which would be communicated to their team.

Do you know how many hits were direct hits as opposed to HE Splash damage hitboxes?

@Maredracorecently discovered that the Calm Seas mod makes the oil slicks nearly invisible as they become an almost imperceptible flat line. I might suggest you disable that mod to allow for some surface variation which can assist in seeing the graphic.

The skill is working as intended in all content which is an active part of our game. Submarines are in testing, so there is an expectation of some fluidity as mechanics continue to be addressed and altered.

As for this specific situation, this is how submarines have interacted with RPF for half a year, so this is not something which should be surprising to long-term players.

RPF detects subs at Surface and Periscope depth. This has been the way RPF has interacted with Subs since they were introduced to live testing half a year ago.

Boggzy and I tested this in a training room just now to confirm that it still works correctly.

Concept Testing is just bare-bones, strung together code to test a thing. There's no point investing much time into something if it doesn't pan out.

It's a concept test. That literally means if just testing to see if it works (as in the basic code concept functions correctly) in the game, and also to see what people think of the concept while that happens.

Unintended silliness happens all the time because it's a bare-bones trying something out.

This one's not worth spending time on. We're very aware of the concerns people have voiced on this topic.

Very much appreciated.

Not gonna lie, hyperbolic stuff gets really tough to read really fast. I realize the passion is there, and I want to understand the passion, but it's so much easier to understand the point when it's straightforward.

There are a lot of mechanics in our game and it's really daunting to learn them all. At a few hundreds battles, you're at the beginning of a long journey should you choose to stick to the road.

I made a video several months back which describes how torps work and how to avoid them without using DCP. Please give it a watch and see if it helps you at all.

Posts like these are very helpful because anything that can give me a drawn-out and thoughtful view from your eyes helps me to be able to convey messages and concepts.

I'm here to represent folks and viewpoints, so anytime I can get someone to give me a story or viewpoint that I can follow and understand, that's a really big win for getting your point across.

Ranked is also Random, but the pool of players is hard-limited to "Only Players in [x] League". So Bronze has ALL players at the start of a season, Silver is a first filtering, and Gold is a second filtering out. While some players do spam games to overcome their skill-barriers, the majority of players simply play to their skill capabilities or stay in a lower League to farm Steel more easily.

Ranked can and is used by players as a way to play among players which have separated themselves out from the main queue through moving up Leagues.

Official Reasoning.

Random produces the most varied experience, so it allows for the most longevity of experience. Also, other games which do utilize SBMM experience skill-walling or "tryhard required" situations which can destroy the ability to experience casual play.

SBMM is used in other games and can be accurate for placing players within shouting distance of each other, so @TheArc is correct on this.

Always worth remembering that our focus in on replayability which is why you find folks with 10,000+ matches. As such, Random Battles will likely always be Random to help keep it as diverse and chaotic as possible.
