Hey, Extinction Elites,

Time flies, and it’s already been three weeks since we launched into Early Access. While we continue to push out minor patches and listen to your feedback, we wanted to start looking to the future and talking about what’s in store for the upcoming Early Access period.

Before launch, we published the first draft of our roadmap to whet your appetites and give you a glance at what we had in store. Since then, we’ve made a few adjustments and started to cement the timeline for our releases.

Without further ado, here is our November Updated Roadmap:

Hello Recruits,
We hope you’re enjoying the game and taking care of the Emergence Event so we can get back to lower threat levels. We have a hotfix going into the game right now to improve the experience. Here are the details:

BUG FIXES

Fixed shutdown crash issue when the game was closed very early after launching it.
Fixed a multiplayer crash that happened after rejoining a session.
Added a notification to show up when the game runs on a PC below the min spec requirements.
Updated the graphics engine and fixed rarely occurring crash issues.
Fixed issue where players with multiple GPUs experienced a crash upon startup.
Fixed an issue with matchmaking requests sent to PlayFab.
Changed the wrong textures on decals to the right ones.

IMPROVEMENTS

Revert popup time got extended from 10 to 15 second...

Hello, Extinction Elites!

It’s been two weeks now (wow) since we launched the game in Early Access. The reception has been incredible, and it’s been amazing to see how you have responded to the game.

Launching a game is equal parts exciting and terrifying, as we both get to see your reactions to shooting dinosaurs first hand, but also need to face performance unknowns that come with the myriad of PC builds and configurations that are out there. While things went smoothly, it’s not to say everything went perfectly. Our last two patches were meant to hopefully fix most of the issues that caused problems. With that said, anyone who is experiencing crashes, load errors, and other performance problems should reach out to us via Customer Support so we can try to find a solution. Please be patient with us - we are a small team, after all, and our poor QA team is juggling a lot currently.

Using a wireless xbox one controller, no prompts for the controller only keyboard ones.

The settings UI with the controller LB does not work at all. The cursor stays on screen and there is bad drift (right stick). The UI controls with the controller make 0 sense, a mix of dpad and analogue sticks to do anything.

Are there any settings I have missed that could fix this?

Seriously thinking of refunding (will be my first ever refund) as controller support appears to suck bad (I have tried the community configs but nothing is good).

UPDATE: More bug fixes have been added to the list since it was originally posted, and the patch is now live.

Extinction Elites,

Thank you for your continued efforts in exterminating the dinosaur threat. Your live reports from the ground have been vital in helping us direct our efforts.

As we were ramping up towards launch, we have been prepared to receive community feedback on any major issues. This coming patch that will drop on Monday October 26th aims to resolve as many of these as possible, while paving the way for future content and quality of life updates.

Patch Highlights:

Stability fixes
Ultrawide monitor support for 21:9 1st Pass implementation
Navbar popping up in-game
Finding matches in matchmaking has been made easier
Possible to remap keyboard for movement controls

Have you gone through all these steps? https://support.secondextinctiongame.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360016921920-Game-is-crashing-or-won-t-load and when you say sent the crash report, do you mean clicked "send report" on the crash pop-up or sent us your crash logs like the guide in the link tells you how to do. If not please do so, so we can have a closer look and help you out!

What a week! Since launching Second Extinction into Early Access we’ve been overwhelmed with all the positive response and feedback to our little Dino Murder Simulator. We couldn’t be happier with the love you have shown us. But we also wanted to address some of the feedback you’ve shared directly, and let you know about our plans for the coming weeks.

We have noticed a few of you raising some questions and issues around both matchmaking and forming a party in multiplayer. We wanted to let you know that you’ve been heard! On top of exploring potential bugs we wanted to clarify how things should work.

With matchmaking there are a few things to highlight. We are looking into why some of you are struggling to find matches but don’t have any firm leads as of yet. Happy to see you've posted here because your review was locked for comments. There is no hacker or cheater. We have a rare issue at the moment where due to internet dropouts a player can get negative Research. This shows up in the UI as if they have billions of the material, but they can't spend it. We've found your account and fixed it for you.
